OK, something happened to the first blog post about this project, and I'm tired of seeing a blank page here. Therefore, I'll explain my story again.
When I moved into my current place, there is a nook just inside our front door, immediately to your left as you walk in. Next to that is our front entrance closet, but it's way too small for me, my roommate, and his two kids when he has them over. Something needed to be done, and that nook area was just too barren. I decided to make a… Continue
I had someone hit my blog and recommend I post something here on the KREG Jig site. Sure. Earlier this year, we just did another session where I was the voice for the Kreg Jig infomercial playing around the country. Not the on camera stuff, but the voice work between the shots, and the commercial too. Been doing that for 2 years now?
I just did my first project for our very Italian house we GC's back in 2007. Peggy, my wife, wanted open shelving above the washer and dryer for over 2… Continue
Just started my first project using the kreg jig. Its a radiator cover. Though i would share. Still needs to be painted and the grills put on.… Continue
Well, cancer treatment followed by vacation / recupration has caused a big gap in posts, but I'm back home now and slowly starting to get back in the shop.
I did get my new router base from Woodcraft, and found that it was too big for the dadomax jig (I'll explain in a later video), but I figured out a way to solve this problem and ordered some nylon set screws from smallparts.com.
Everything is together and I made a test cut with the dadomax and it works good (once I fine… Continue

I guess the title probably sparked your interest and yes, there is a small story behind the price. Several years ago we had a new floor installed in our kitchen. Some kind of man made product that resembles ceramic tile. Well . . . the peolpe that sold us the floor did NOT tell us that you should avoid spilling water on the floor and we had to find out the hard way. While my wife and I were at work, one of our cats spilled their water bowl right where four corners of the tile come together and… Continue
I am building an oak table with 3/4" aprons and 11/2" by 11/2' square legs with the apron and legs set flush. I used 11/4" fine thread screws and normal settings on hole drilling in the apron. i got splits while driving the screws on 3 out of 4 legs. This happened on the screws nearest the leg end but my setback followed guidelines from Kreg. Any suggestions?
I went to the Dallas Woodworkers Show and purchased the items to make my Right Hand Panel Cutting Jig provide Kreg Cutting accuracy. The scale on the jig allows precise settings up to 67 inches. It works great. When cutting multiple panels or even boards, I just set the Kreg to the dimension I need and cut one after the other. I previously used a clamp and a small block of wood. Boy does this work nice. The reason I am posting it is that I had not… Continue
Not long ago, a Facebook friend of mine let me know that she was going to organize a silent auction fundraiser dinner for the St. Paul Winter Carnival. She's an active Royal Guard member, and takes her role seriously. During this last summer, the Royal Guard and the Vulcans decided to have two paintball matchups. The word went out and they tried to recruit as many paintball players as possible.
Well, on both occasions, I couldn't make the events. I felt bad, leaving her to deal with… Continue
I get a lot of members on this site asking me about how I incorporate woodburning to my projects. The people at Kreg Jig even suggested I make a blog post on here. So, after completing a woodburning project last night in my garage, I thought I’d take that opportunity to take photos and describe how I do it.
This first picture denotes my surface. I chose to do a smaller version of the hope chest as a donation item for a silent auction. This chest will measure roughly 24 inches long,… Continue

Well, my new DadoMax jig did show up on Monday, but I'm nearly through a 2 week long preparation for my next cancer treatment and my energy is low. I did look at the stuff on Monday and thought: "Hey, there really ought to be some instructions in here..."
It was too late to call Woodline, so I had to wait till Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, I called and talked to Wayne Suttor (Now I think I'm spelling it right) and he immediately knew I was calling looking for instructions (that he… Continue
Recently I saw a video shot by Woodworker's Journal at the 2009 AWFS Fair showing Wayne Suitor (I'm probably spelling his name wrong) from Woodline USA giving a sneak peak at their new DadoMax Router Jig.
The Kreg Jig has been getting a lot of press lately as thousands of DIY'ers, handymen, woodworkers, and beginners have discovered a tool that can help them build projects, faster, easier, and with less financial/time commitment than ever before. Don't take our word for it... check out these great Kreg Jig video reviews we found on… Continue

Last Thursday I cut my drawer fronts all to Length (25 3/8") and drilled pocket holes in 8 of the pieces in preparation for putting 16 of the pieces togehter in pairs to make 8 panels I could cut to size for the bottom 8 drawers (my stock is wide enough for the top drawers).
Last night (Tuesday) I went in to glue up the panels and found that over the long weekend the pieces I had cut had all cupped, so none of them were flat. Luckly, I now have a 10" Jointer / Planer and I spend the… Continue

About the only thing missing from my shop was a thickness planer and decent jointer. I saw a video review of the RIKON 12" Combo Jointer / Planer and thought it would be a great idea for my shop (and its rapidly vanishing floor space) to get a combo set-up. That way I would get rid of the old (nearly broken) 4" jointer I have and replace it with a combo.
Now the RIKON is supposed to be about $1600.00 and that was a lot of money for me drop on any tool (combination or not). I did some… Continue
Remember a while back when I made that Treasure Box for my roommate's daughter? That was a precursor for a hope chest I wanted to build for friends of mine getting married on Labor Day weekend. Well, that day is almost here. This Friday, in fact. I'm almost done with my project, but here's how it all started.
My brother Dan used to build these things as toy boxes for our nieces when they were turning one year old. Dan used a dovetail joiner to make his sides and lid frame. While I… Continue
I managed to install the face frame on Sunday (despite Reba the Wonder Dog getting her first introduction to a SKUNK). Things went pretty well and my wife really likes the way it looks (which is what really matters). I am not unhappy with the results.
Here is the built in with all but one of the drawers removed (that drawer, once installed is in such a way that I can't reach the release lever on the left side:
My first project was the Cherry iMac Desk which these nightstands are modeled after and should resemble when it's all said and done. I'm thankful for the facilities I've been able to borrow to do my building and for all of the great help a friend has given me during the build. But perhaps most of the thanks belongs to the Kreg Jig which has made these projects possible. As a beginner, the Kreg Jig… Continue
It's been a slow week on the faceframe project, I'm at the point where I have to move the stuff into the house and acutally install the frame, and I need a full day to tackle that, not just the hour a night I spend in the shop.
I did notice however that my Kreg tools were laying all over the place, so they finally got their own… Continue
Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue
