Dog Grooming Table

I got a call from my niece, Becky, who is going to college, and has a part time job as a dog groomer. You might remember the sign I woodburned for Dogs at Play. That's the place she works at in South St. Paul, MN. She called me because she said her grooming table is falling apart, and could her super-favorite uncle in the whole wide world come to her rescue? (I added the adjectives there, myself) I said sure, and would arrive after work on Monday the 22nd of March.

When I…

The Kreg Jig Multi-Mark

Last Thursday I received my Multi-Mark in the mail. I opened my package and pulled out the tool. I couldn't wait to open this thing up and try it out. It's a quick assembly of putting the metal guage slide to the plastic handle and screwing tight the brass knob. The tool allows for 90 degree square, 45 degree angle, and 0 degree straight edge. I was also happy to see that a leveling bubble was included in the plastic handle too. One can always use one of those.

I grew up…

Pros and cons of finishing before assembly

As far back as I can remember building things (since I was old enough to hold a hammer) I have always assembled whatever project I was working on then finished it. Whether a table or a loft bed, it just seemed the thing to do. Of course some projects (such as the loft bed complete with stairs and slide!) were a no brainer... too big to paint before assembly.

Recently I invested in some pricey, "top-of-the-line"…

A counter top you can count on...

Got to spend quite a bit of time the shop this weekend and made a bit a progress on both of the pending projects.

The Cherry Counter Top for the Built-In

I got out my Kreg Mini and set about drilling 20 pocket holes in the center board of the counter top (10 on each side). I got the Mini free when I ordered on of the Kreg clamps I got, and this thing is a joy to use on big pieces like this and I don't have to take my regular Kreg apart.…

Best and Cheapest Addition to the KREG JIG

When your drill or screw driver just can't get in that tight place you want it to. Instead of scraping the project I advise going to your local Lowe's. Why? Well for the Kobalt 9 Piece Multi Bit Ratchet Screwdriver. By far the best $9.58 you could ever spend to ride along during any tight angle project you might be devising with your Kreg.

Hello Kreggers!

Hi, like Alan, I am new to woodworking. I just finished my first project, and I'm ready for my next one. I have been looking at the website for a while admiring the work. I've been looking for ideas, and I have found a bunch. I'm getting ready to get started remoldeling my bathroom so I know the kreg-jig is gonna be on overtime. I look forward to chatting with as many of you as possible. By the way, I'm a steel-fitter by day, so it is nice to be able to come home and work with wood. My dad is a… Continue

Step one in becoming a novice :)

Well i've cleaned up my shop a little. It was not used for a long period of time, so it collected a lot of stuff. By a lot, I mean I literally took 1/2 ton of trash to the dump over the weekend. Glad I have my truck :)

Shop before:

And the shop as it is now:…

Kitchen Cabinet Repair

Greetings to All. Jody and I have 8 kids total. 5 still at home. We live in a large log home that we built ourselves. The kitchen does have alot of wear and tear. The cabinets are about 10 years old. They are still in pretty good shape. It seems that when the kids open the cabinets they put a lot of downward pressure on the doors. Over time the doors loosen up and come apart. I have repaired some of them before with glue and clamps, but they never hold. Its been quite a while since a got my… Continue

Hello Everyone

Hello everyone. I'm new to both here and to woodworking and to using the Kreg jig. I'm sure I'll ask some simpleton questions, so forgive me in advance. I've been skulking around this site for a while, and I eventually just couldn't help myself, so I purchased the Kreg jig system when I saw it at my local home improvement store. I used it just yesterday for the first time seriously, and I love it. I had to rebuild a drawer in my aging kitchen cabinets. The Kreg jig made the joinery very… Continue

Just getting started and I need Plans for Kreg Jig Projects!

I have the tool. I made a chair. Now i'm hooked. But I can't find the site where I found the plan for the chair nor any other place with free plans for making cool things with Kreg. Where can I find a library of plans especially for Kreg Jig?

Kreg Precision Trak & Stops - Fence/Table

I've never written a blog before so I hope this is how it's supposed to be done.

I purchased the Kreg K3 Master System a short time back. I have now completed 2 of the bookcases that are available on the Kreg site. I found it necessary to modify the dimensions some on the 2nd case so that it would fit into a particular niche in our kitchen.

As I worked these two projects I found that I was in "need" of precise cuts on the… Continue

The Phantom Woodworking Show

Saturday my wife and I got up early (for us, on a Saturday) and hit the road to drive down to Marlborough, Massachusetts to attend a woodworking show I had found online a few weeks ago. We made the 86 miles drive in bright sunshine and good spirits, arriving at our destination 10 minutes before the show was scheduled to start that day (the website advertising a 3 day event, Fri - Sun).

Imagine our surprise to show up and find an empty ... nay, a…

Dimensional Furniture- Pieces 3 & 4

Well I have finally completed my 2nd bookcase. The first was done several months ago and is serving me well. The 2nd is a smaller version for use as bookshelf and display space.

Like my desk and hutch previously posted these are made out of standard box store lumber and the Kreg Jig was my primary joint. I am looking forward to years of use as well as a few more pieces to add to the…

Life's a Birch ... with a Cherry top.

Monday my beautiful wife and I went to Goose Bay Lumber to pick out lumber for the top of the built in. I wanted something a little thicker than you find at a big box store, so we were looking for 6/4 material (that's 1 1/2" thick to you lay folk).

We ended up with 3 nice pieces of Cherry all 10 feet long, 2 pieces about 7 inches wide and one 4" (25 board feet). Here is it stacked up on the work… Continue
