Because my father used to do some woodworking, I have a good start on some tools of the trade here. For many years this area has been the catch-all, but I plan on that changing now! I am starting to think about how I want it to be laid out, and what is the best idea for accessibility of the tools.

The are is 23'x15', so it's not huge, but it is a decent size. My idea right now is to make the shop as "reconfigurable" as possible, so heavy duty casters will most likely be in my future.

I am toying with the idea of rolling work stations and also putting the table saw on rollers. I am definitely going to take out some of the things cluttering the wall, and build it to suit my needs as they arise.

My main thought at this point is to make a "main" work bench that is 7'x4' that will normally stain the middle of the room. The power and dust collection will mainly run through that. I would also build to auxiliary work benches, also on wheels, that will be 4'x4'. All of the benches would be as multi-purpose as possible with clamp stations and mounting areas for the more mobile tools. Also at least one of the aux tables, but probably both, could also be used as receiving tables for the table saw.

So everything possible on wheels, so that most of my tools and stations can be configured as needed for any job that will fit in this space. Grand plans, and I'm sure they will change, but that's where I am now. A long way to go in any case!

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
