On Saturday, I noticed I'm about to polish off my second box of course thread screws. That's a ton of projects under my belt, I'd say.

How many boxes of screws have you gone through?

I just started into my second box of fine thread 1-1/4" (and bought more oak on Saturday).
the other day, i was at the rockler store and picked up a box of 2.5 inch, 50 count. i was thinking i could start an outdoor project as the screws were weather resistant. not realizing what i grabbed and being a kreg newbie, during check out i was like why is my bill so much? turns out i picked up a box of 2.5 inch stainless steal for a whopping 23 bucks a box, ouch! i better come up with a sweat outdoor bench or something.
Since I started counting...
3 -2 1/2" inch blue coated exterior
6 -1 1/4" coarse
3- 1 1/4" fine
1- 1" fine

and a few boxes of 2 1/2" and 1 1/4" exterior star tipped that I used when I ran out of Kreg screws. This did not work so well. I didn't have a long star tipped bit and used a collar.
Kim- I think they wanted to know how many you used on ALL your projects- not just the porch swing! 8-)

Talking about plugs. You can make your own buy a 3/8 dowel and drill a pocket it scrap wood put a screw to bott0m shove the dowel in and then take a trim saw and shave it off ,Then take a hammer and hit the screw from bottom and plugs come out.
Good rainny day project
I would say I have went through over 12 large boxes of screws in 10 years
I buy my screws in boxes of 1000, 1 1/4 coarse thread and 1 1/4 fine thread, in the coarse of the 6 or 7 years that I have used pocketholes, about 3 to 4 boxes of coarse thread and 1 box fine thread per year.
I am amazed that anyone who has been using pocket screws for more than a couple of weeks would actually be able to answer that question. Never knew there would be a test, but I have used a lot of them.
Yes! ha ha Swing did take many many screws. But the "Big Mama" work table including the two end pieces took a truckload!
I haven't found a source close to me that sells the big boxes. I have to buy the small ones from lowes. I would have them shipped but shipping costs are high.
I would love to find somewhere to purchase the big boxes.
(And BTW, I know roughly how many boxes I have gone through because I like to keep a cost estimate on each project and include the screws.)
If you buy your screws from Amazon.com shipping is free on orders over $25.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
