Kreg Owners' Community

I've been looking at both these saw's for a while now, and read the review's. Was wondering your input here on the community.....

Well....i bought the Ridgid.  And i'm having a bit of a romance with it.  Fantastic saw.  You couldn't pry it out of my cold dead hands.
Joe I bought the ridgid about two years ago. I would not take anything for it, it has been a great saw for every project. The only thing I wish is that they had  a better dust collection hook up.
I have bosch 4100 table saw like the portabilty and fold out  of the way went not in used safety feature well worth the price you pay and has plenty of power to cut what ever you want hope this help. also you buy zero insert from bosch or (Ptreeusa.com) sell insert for bosch.i have dado blades etc.
just remember the ridgid saw has a lifetime warranty with it.
Bosch 4100 with the digital read out on the fence!
I have owned both of these saws,  1st was the bosch.  had it for 8 years til someone needed it more than I.  It ran real good.  2nd was the Rigid that I bought about a year ago to replace the Bosch.  I burned up the motor in it in about a month, but took it back and they gave me a new one... They didn't want to but they did.  So if i was going to buy one today I would get the Bosch, they are more proven as the best.
Both are good... to me the issue is how long you plan on owning it... Ridge Brand  is now owned by Home Depot. They private labeling someones product.  Does not mean it's not a good product.  Biggest issue to me is repair parts someday in the future.  I've got a Bosh Jig saw, (which is probably the bet Jig saw in the world). I dropped it and broke the guide.  Went on line to Bosh and was amazed at the availability of every part, and their on-line parts guide. Yes, Ridge has a lifetime warrenty, but try to buy a part from a Ridge tool that is 10 years old.  HD will send it in somewhere, they will repair it, or send you a replacement unit ( which may not be bad, if you can afford the down time.)  I would also look at the Delta and probably Dewalt
I looked at both of them pretty closely before I bought the 4510 about 4 months ago. Just couldn't find $200 difference between the two. The table folds and unfolds beautifully, almost no effort to fold or unfold it. Very important to me as I have to pack up the table saw to get to the router table. Tool less removal/replace of the blade guard and kickback pawls with secure onboard storage for both. Also secure onboard storage for the fence, mitre gauge and push stick. Means they can be installed on the machine or in the storage brackets for transfer, nothing is gonna fall off. Tool less conversion from riving knife to spitter and back. Machine was also dead bang out of the box. Zero clearance inserts available from Peachtree and a couple of other places. Nice soft start motor with plenty of power and actually a pretty decent blade for an OEM. I also like the split in the top of the blade guard assembly. Allows you to look straight down on your cut line without ducking around under the blade guard.

ed says home depot owns ridgid so I guess that means you won't see any ridgid tools in my shop!!
I looked at both saws. Both are good products but I went with the Jet jobsite saw- JBTS-10MJS.

Let me restate who owns Ridige.... offically Ridige Tools is part of  Emerson.  This is the professional plumming tools products that have been around for 100 years.  HD has a exclusive marketing agreement to use the RIDIGE name on a lot of other products that are all private labled for them. I was think of TTI ( whom HD owns)  includes Ryobi®, Milwaukee® and AEG® power tools, DreBo® carbide drill bits, Homelite® and Ryobi® outdoor power equipment and Royal®, Dirt Devil®, Regina® and VAX® floor care appliances..  I believe TTI builds some of the Ridige branded power tools.

Does not mean they are not good products...  just be aware of what your buying.  I've used Milwaukee for years, when they got bought out ( about 5 years ago) the marketing people really expanded the name into many other "Milwaukee" branded products, which was outside of the main line professional tools.
