workshop size

i currently use my brothers garage or my parents porch to build my projects and just curious of the dimensions of everyones shop on here and how well the size worked for them?

I built a post frame 16x24x10 with a set of barn doors ,1 walk through and a 1/4 loft  to store   lumber so I save floor space, NEVER BIG ENOUGH THOUGH but satisfied

my shop is in my basement roughly 15x35 but I have a low ceiling and an old converted coal to oil furnace in there, I also have a couple of low hanging pipes that hang below the joists. these are for the radiators in the house, every now and then I give them a pretty good good shot with my head. everything either comes down a set of back steps in the rear of the basement and usally goes up a set of steps from the basement to my kitchen, while designing a project this has to taking into consideration. another problem is while shopping for tools pretty much everything has to be of the bench top variety. I would love to have a bigger and detached shop but I really enjoy the space that I have

well mines very small and cluttered in the basement. I used my table saw as a workbench, cut pieces out with jigsaw, clean off area and set up router table, sand finish and assembly. Plus it an older home so I can't stand up straight.

I built a 24X30 detached garage and it is primarily my wood shop. I've kept just about everything mobile as I occasionally have to park my truck there. There is more than enough room for now. That may change when I've acquired all the toys, er, tools I want. :)

I use my 2 car garage and feel fortunate that I have that much room, mine is 20x20.

I built a 10x16 shop in a 40x80 pole building.  It's tight, but I have tablesaw, bandsaw, jointer & planer on mobile bases, so I can move them outside depending on what I'm using.  I also have a 2-stage dust collector that sits out in the main building and is connected to pipe with flexible tubing.  It's insulated & easy to heat and cool.  I also ran cable in so I can have TV or radio.

I built a 16x20 shed. Just finished the power install today. Feels great to not have a couple of extension cords running across the back yard. my next project will be to build some upper cabinets so that i can store things off the floor!

Had a 24'X40' metal building built for my shop.  All tools on bases so I can move them around.

yeah that sounds like a good shop. i want to heat and cool my shop too once i build one. how did you insulate it?

the half loft is a good idea. ill have to remember that one when i get to build mine.
