I was just going to make some out door benches out of 2x4's. I rather wait for this jig then use it on my bench.

I wonder it they are going to sell the stop block on it's own?  My K-4 won't hold a 3 1/2" wide piece.

Thanks Ken - Had a look at the Palm Nailer on line.  Looks good! Many thanks for the suggestion.

Looks great! but I have been waiting for over a month to get the KREG screws for the normal KREG JIG  from my supplier.   I was going to order direct from KREG Industries but the transport costs are as much as the items themselves.

Sure now you come out with nice jig, after I just got done building my shed, would of came handy if I had one then. When in June will it be out, and will it hit the stores??

What type of screws are they, and are they exterior rated?

Lance,

I find a palm nailer, very useful for many tasks.

It's easier to use, vs swinging a hammer for many hours, when driving larger nails or spikes,

and driving nails close into corners.

I have a palm nailer, that features various nose pieces---

short to long nose pieces---

suitable for standard nails and finishing nails---

as well as nails with large heads, roofing nails, a hammering head, and chiseling head.

The longer nose pieces are necessary for getting into corners, like anchoring hanger brackets for headers and joists---where it's difficult to swing the hammer in close quarters.

This palm nailer has been invaluable to me, for many construction tasks.

When driving lots of large nails, and with the continuous vibrations given off by the tools hammering action,

a padded leather palm pad, is a must, as well as wearing a padded leather glove.

Leather gloves with padded palms, are very helpful, to reduce stress on the hands, when using impact drivers.

I've heard and read of many who don't like palm nailers---perhaps they just haven't learned to use it to it's fullest capabilities.

There's been many tasks that I've performed, and there just wasn't a better way to get the job done, more efficiently or speedier.

The palm nailer chiseler was the best, until I got the Bosch hammer-drill and chiseling bits.  This is a beast of a tool---heavy too---need two hands to hold and control this ''Buldawg'' of a tool.

Mike,

Kreg product specs reads:

''The Kreg Jig® HD is optimized for working with 2x4’s and larger stock. It utilizes #14 industrial-quality, heavy-duty, hardened-steel, screws which provide incredible shear resistance as well as 3 anti-corrosion layers for incredible long-term moisture resistance''

Mo Money. Actually, $59+ does seem a bit pricey. I paid around $40 for the standard set. I guess it's close to 50% increase for this one. I would guess it cost Kreg about ten bucks or less to produce the new HD set.

Mike r's question about the screws is a good one. Are they exterior rated?

wow, looks good for an outdoor pergola!  :)

I had this idea when I constructed some shop worktables from 4x4.  Need face clamp for 4x4s though...awesome product...it's on my Father's Day wish list.
