Take a look at this video (Parts 1 & 2) with Gary Striegler which demonstrates using the Kreg Jig to build a 3-door Wall Cabinet that can be put together and hung by one person on his garage wall or elsewhere

Matt, I see that you are interested in building some garage cabinets and asked for inspiration.  The best inspiration I can give you is to build them just like they are being built for your kitchen or bath.  When you do this you will never regret that decission.  In my experience of over 2o plus years building custom work the most important thing I have learned is to build it with dedication and with the idea in mind that this is a custom cabinet.  Build it to last and make it with the idea in mind that I do not want to build this again.  Above all, never start doubting your self or your ability.  Once a person gets this though process going he or she has just become defeated.

You do not have to use the most expensive wood but treat it as it is,  be dedicated to not only building it but in its finish as well.  For some reason or an other  a garage cabinet often gets the shabby workmanship and sooner or later the shabby work will show and become a eye sore.  That does not mean that you can not experiment and try a varity of construction practices.  The cabinet business is full of opportunities to design something different to fit your needs.  The garage offers you a chance to become a skilled cabinet maker as in a garage cabinet you don't  get side tracked over worry about where or not it will fit or look right.  If you are dedicated to it it will look fine and will turn out to be something you will be proud of.

One of the great things I can say about the Kreg Jig system is that even the simple butt joint can be a very strong and percise joint that can be done in a very quick and easy manner process.  Where it be a European or traditional face frame cabinet the proceedure is pretty much the same.  The big difference is the face frame.  The kreg system will allow you to build the complete cabinet without a lot of difficulties.  The secret is percise meansurment and cutting of square pieces.  It if is square it will stay square with the pocket screw technology.

For ideas in how to build a cabinet the world of the computer has hundreds of "how to" and photos of cabinet construction at your finger tips.  Some are better that others however all have the same idea in mind, construction  of a box to store objects inside.  The differences is in the jointery, size and design look. Most have doors and these doors are also made differently mainly in their jointery and design but all still have the same idea, to cover or enclose the contents of the box.

Last but least, this kreg Jig community if full of members whom have an wide variety of expertise in many types of wood working and most will offer you help with questions and advise.  Above all when you begin take a deep breath and say "I can do this."    I am looking  foward to seeing your projects become a reality.  If you feel that I can be of help, please feel free to contact me.

My "shop" had 3 long, wide open, flimsy pine shelves when I decided to fix it. I kept the shelves for the most part, fortified them with some stronger supports and added doors. I can hang on the cabinets now if I wish and not worry about them falling. I ended up with this...

I know this topic is a bit old but I can certainly help. Just send me a simple sketch with some dimensions and I can create garage cabinet illustrations and plans for you. I run cabinet vision software which will generate plywood cutting diagrams for you to follow.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
