suitable drill for Kreg Jig ?

i purchased a Kreg Pocket jig Model # R3. I have a Black & Decker 18 V drill, 750 RPM. When i use this drill i am not able to make a pocket hole. Any suggestions on the clutch settings of the drill or this drill is not suited for making pocket holes. If not suggeston on a drill suited for Kreg Jig

What's it "not" doing in order to not drill a hole? 

 

The obvious question first.  Make sure you're not trying to drill in reverse

like Geoff said, make sure drill is going in right direction, second you need more rpm. try backing bit out, to clear out chips. good luck, hope this helps

when drilling always have clutch setting to high, drill,  20 whatever yours has.  Only set the clutch for screws to help avoid stripping.  Hope this helps.

Try this.....switch to a corded, electric, drill. Corded drills, spin at higher rpm's, provide better chip ejection, therefor preventing overheating of the drill bit. Some how to videos, show the use of battery operated drills, being used to drill holes. Demos do the same thing. Don't know why; it's not a wise thing to do. Use the battery as a driver, rather than a drill. It works for me. Good luck.

If that's the same drill I have (Wally World/China town special) it's a two speed deal. Make sure the speed range and is set to 2, the clutch is set to drill and the battery is full/good. Change clutch and speed for driving screws

Corded is better for drilling the holes and is even better with vac attached.

Ok finally i got it to work . Battery fullycharged, set the setting to 22 and backing up a few times it made a good hole. Thanks for all your input. I will start on my first project this week end...

I set the drill at max setting to make the hole. But I back off my drill toque to about 4 on a black and decker 18v.

No problem at all with my older 18v NiCad Bosch drills.  Actually, it's one application that takes advantage of the full-sized drill's weight.  The drill bit can make a big difference, also.  A new bit from Kreg(only step bit I've tried) cuts like butta!  Clearing the hole can be important, depending on the wood species.  I use a compact Bosch 18v to drive the screws OR the Bosch 12v sub-compact impactor.
