The problem with traditional squares is that while they give you a straight edge, they do nothing to simplify and speed up the process of aligning your saw to your pencil mark. The Kreg Square-Cut™ simplifies this process with an adjustable guide arm that can be set to work with any circular saw or jigsaw. Simply match the arm to your saw’s unique offset, then use the Square-Cut™ to make fast and accurate cuts over and over again.

The Square-Cut's adjustable guide arm can be set to match any circular saw or jig saw. It compensates for the length from the blade to the edge of the base plate. What does this mean for you? Instead of eye-balling the blade on the pencil mark or using your tape measure to set back your saw from the line to a specific length, all you have to do to get a perfect cut is place the guide arm next to your mark, and make your cut. Faster results, fewer mistakes, and much less aggravation.

Steve, you're exactly right... this is designed for those who can't afford a table/miter saw or just need to make straight cross cuts on the road.

Jenny, the Square-Cut works with stock around 1' wide. It's good for 2"x4"'s and smaller stock of course, but also for house siding and wider materials like that. It it not a solution for cutting panels (sheet goods) to length though... My best suggestion for that at the moment would be to follow the tips presented in this Kreg Plus Newsletter entry: Cutting Sheet Goods

How long can the cut be? It would be really useful if it was at least 4 feet long, to cross-cut sheet goods.
How does it clamp to the board. I need to be able to really press against that far end without it moving,

For myself, I can't cut a straight line longer than 3/4 of an inch with a circular saw. That's why I have a mitre and table saw. This might work for me.

I would be very interested in this tool as well. I, like most amateurs, have trouble cutting straight lines with a hand saw. The guide would surely be a helpful tool for the "amateur" workshop.

Great questions, everyone!!

#1 (LEFTIES) As of right now, this is the only model planned. This is a good idea and I will be sure to share it with our engineering deparment.

#2 (ADJUSTABLE ARM) Don is right, the arm is set using the saw blade's teeth as opposed to just the saw blade's body. This ensures that your cuts will be exactly accurate and the tip of the guide arm will not be damaged during the cut.

3) (OFFSET) The offset is completely adjustable. You can use it with a corded circular saw, a battery powered circular saw, or even jig saws which have a significantly smaller base plate.

I volunteer to be a tester. I suspect if you adjust the guide arm of the square with the blade tooth it would not get cut off.

Does the adjustable arm go up against the side of the blade for the offset? If so, when you bring your saw forward, wouldn't it technically start nicking the end of the arm? Thus, after a while, would it really damage the square's arm?
