Several years ago I bought a chair at a woodcrafters shop. This chair was 3 fold in its function and it was called a "Bachelors Chair". Supposedly the design was from Thomas Jefferson. It was a chair…Continue

For What It's worth.

A short time ago (a few days), I commented on a blog about selling and what to charge for hand made/custom made items. It started me to thinking about what's so out of whack with our society.

We basically live in a disposable or throw away society where people think the "IKEA" store and "Rooms To Go" have quality furniture. The heirlooms we pass on to our children are probably not something we purchased, but rather something we were fortunate enough to inherate from our grand…

What tool would you buy next

I already have a table saw (portable Ryobi), and many hand tools including a plunge router. My space is limited for the time being and I am using my carport for any projects, so most of my future purchases will be the bench model variety.

IF, you were going to buy only one of the following tools (assuming they all cost about the same), which would you buy next.

Drill Press

Band Saw

12 inch planer

My argument with him is that "IF" power tools and tools like the Kreg Jig were available 200 years ago, they would have used them. I think they did what they did, because of what was available to work with. Its evolution, progress, or… Continue

If I was going to buy a bandsaw, I would definitly look at Rikon 14" dulx
1-1/2 hrs
2 speed
13" cutting capacity
very space consuming.
Ranked #1 tools & top ten
they also have table top radial drill press.

Pantry slides for heavy application

Recently purchased two 96" tall pantry cabinets that are 23" deep that only came with two adjustable shelves and two fixed, (one at about 55" and one at the very bottom).  Shelf holes in the walls are drilled 2" O.C.  Like most store-bought…Continue

Miter Saw Recommendation 1 Reply

I’m looking to upgrade my miter saw. I’m willing to invest a good amount of money to get one with the precision pocket hole joinery requires. Would anyone like to offer a recommended model?

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…

Not Pleased With Pocket Hole Construction

Several months ago, I purchased the Kreg K4MS so that I could build the Lego Table as outlined on the companion "buildsomething" web site which exclusively uses pocket hole construction.  I have considerable experience with conventional…
