I did some searching and like you all I could find were the 3/4" fine pan head screws. Maybe Kreg Rep can tell us if Kreg will be coming out with the 3/4" coarse pan head screw for the micro jig.
Depends on how you joining the wood, maybe try some "trial and error" on some 1/2" scrap using the 1" screws.
Keep us inform on your progress as I'm sure others may come across this problem and might be seeking answers.
Have a good day!
John, good question. Our new 3/4" screws were just developed recently. During development, we found that the short length of the 3/4" screw meant that with coarse threading you'd only get 2 or so full threads into the receiving workpiece with the screw fully seated in the Pocket-Hole. The end result of this, unlike the rest of our screws, was that the coarse threading did not add significant strength to the joint over fine threading, even in soft materials.
The recommendation with our 3/4" screws is to use materials hard enough to where fine threaded screws work fine... some plywood fits into this category, such as birch plywood.
You might try these screws from SPAX, 8 x 3/4" Multi Material Phillips Square Pan Head, I found them at Home Depot. You have to drive them in very slowly. The screws have threads there full lenght. Hand screwing the last few threads is a safe way to go when using the Spax brand of screws. You can use a square or phillips screwdriver. They cost about two dollars for 35 screws. I hope this helps.
Hi James, thanks for the quick reply.
I've tried adjusting the jig distance from the edge of the stock with just a bit of improvement. Need to be extremely precise or something pops out someplace. Not much wiggle room with 1/2". Joining 1/2" to thicker stock is great but 1/2 to 1/2.....
Fine threads just don't cut it in plywood. So far, rabbet joints have been my best option.
What irritates me the most is it was advertised for 1/2" stock with no caveat about hardwood only. The fine screws might work ok in softwood, haven't tried that,

Then state that in your advertising!
Most work with the micro is in plywood.

Just bought the micro jig and have been disappointed. I am going to return it. I find the hole does not exit the middle and very much at one end. Adjusted for 1/2" all around. I think the jig needs to move lower in my K4 system or the bit needs more of an angle.
I have tried the 5/8" bit length as suggested, moving stock out a bit, playing with this and that...
I wish Kreg would of gone with using the Deck drill bit, much thinner and make smaller screws for it.
I realize one of Kreg's main fame is you don't need glue but with the fine threads and the 1/2" thick wood you almost have to use glue. I could not keep the oak from splitting.
Deck size drill bit, smaller deck size screws and glue with a "mini-micro jig" ..that would be nice.
Back to other jointing methods on smaller stuff.
How about drywall screws

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
