First time kreg jig user, last night I drill my first pocket hole and my drill was out for borrow, I grabbed my 12v impact driver and it worked great.  Is it ok to use an impact driver to create the pocket hole?

I wouldn't think that there would be a problem with using an impact driver. My experience with impact drivers is that they do not start impacting until a certain amount of resistance is encountered. To satisfy my curiosity, I have ask if the drill was impacting while it was boring the hole?

I have used my 18v impact and it works great for me too

I agree bought a sears rightangle impact works better.
I've gone away from using my impact when working with plywood as either I, or it, were causing the screws to spin out.  I would imagine using "real" wood would be different....however i've never drilled with one.  That being said, i use an 18v Dewalt to drill the holes
Yes Geoff, using an impact driver to bore the holes is one thing, setting the screws with an impact driver is a whole different ball game. I find my little Dremel 1120 is a perfect tool for setting the screws. If you are using big power drills to set the screws the torque setting must be low enough to make sure that the wood does not strip out. I can use my 18V Hitachi to set the screws but I have to take care that the torque settind is not over 4 (depending on the wood).
I use my 9,6V deWalt impact to set the screws. No torgue setting on that so I just let it start to hammer and quit. Seems to be just about right. I confess I haven't tried that in plywood yet.
for drilling holes it should be fine, but for driving screws be carefull, like everyone said, you need to know your impact driver so you dont strip out the screws. a little pratice and you should be fine for both drilling and screwing.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
