I love being able to use dust collection with the jig but I hate having to remove the dust collection port to get access to the bolt that locks the jig setting in place.  Any one have a good solution for this?  I'm thinking of just getting a longer bolt but would be interested to know what other think and have done.

Suggest looking into a 1.50" long ''thumb screw", with proper thread-pitch---(same thread pitch as the fitting on the tool).

Place a flat washer and hex nut on the screw.

Adjust the nut position on the screw, so facilitate a snug fit, to the face on fixture.

That's along the lines I was thinking.  I'll have to go look but I'm not sure there will be enough clearance for the nut if the dust port is in place.  Hopefully there will be.

There's adequate clearance for a hex nut, fitted on the thumb screw.

(The hex nut is smaller AC (across corners), than the diameter of the knurled nut).

Great!  This should fix my only real pet peeve with the jig.

Derrell,

I agree, I have the same issue.

My thumb and fingers, just don't fit into that little space.

I have to pry off the cover to access the fastener.

The Knurled nut could be a larger diameter, and with larger/deeper knurl.

(The size of the knurls on that fitting, is what I use on a fingernail file).

HINT: Additional clearance is needed between the sawdust cover and the knurled nut.

May someone at KREG tools with get the hint---hint---hint.

I'll post a reply, when I come up with a better solution.

(What I've described above, was a simple quick solution).

I thought I'd share my solution that I came up with. First I started out with a 10/32 bolt about 3 inches long.  Then I chucked it up in my drill press and used a file to shape the end of the bolt so it would engage the holes on the drill guide.  I had some 5/16 star knobs so I used one of those and drilled a hole through it.  Then I ran the 10/32 bolt through the hole and used a nut to hold the start knob to the bolt.  I used two more nuts to set the distance the bolt can tighten to.  Works perfect!

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
