Kreg Owners' Community

I drilled holes into a piece of 1x3 wood. I had the drill setting right, 1/2,  but had the Kreg jig set too deep, 1 1\2.

so I reset the jig and drilled the same holes over the old ones. For some reason it drilled out some of the blue plastic and now it doesn't work right for any holes. Have I totally destroyed it? Has anyone else had this problem? I am very upset, I love my Kreg Jig!!!

Any advice?

Mary I would call customer service  they may be able to get you headed in the right direction  and fix your jig , JIM !!

Mary, like Jim suggested, please get in touch with Technical Support at toll-free 800-447-8638 or technicalsupport@kregtool.com for assistance. Thanks!

Thank you both, I will call them.

Did you reset the drill depth stop on the drill bit?

I had the drill bit set correctly, at 1/2 inch. I just forgot to change the setting in the jig. When I adjusted the setting on the jig and redrilled some of the blue plastic got drilled out.

Where on the jig did the bit make contact?

Somewhere down towards the bottom.

Mary what kind of jig do you have  (k-4  k - 5  )   did you set the bit with the flat or point  should be the flat  , and if the board is a true 1 x3 "  it is 3/4 "  thick unless it is ply wood  the jig should be set for 3/4 " and use 1 1/4 " screws , if you have a picture , that would help , JIM !!

It looks like the collar slipped and the drill just kept going down into the base. I think it's ok, I just need to make sure the collar stays tight. Thank you all so much!

Look,s like you have a K-4  and it is set at 5/8 ", dose not look like it hurt the jig , always check the collar after drilling a few holes  and set it to the flat of the bit , have a good night and happy wood working , JIM !!

Hi Mary, sorry to hear that you drilled into the base of the jig. My son did the same with his but it has not affected the performance of the jig. Make sure the base at the top of the holes that you drilled in sanded flat so that when you add a piece of stock to the jig to be drilled it sits true on the bottom. Customer care should be able to help if needed!

Good luck!
