Mounting your jig

Hello, I just purchased my Kreg Jig. Can some of you experienced users tell me how you mounted your jig? Did you mount it to a bench? Or a piece of plywood or something and then clamp that to a bench? Or is there a better way for storage, mounting and using the jig?

I have mine mounted to a 1x5 board that I can clamp to a portable work bench.

I too mounted my Kreg Jig to a larger piece of wood.  Additionally, I built some "buttresses" as high as the base of the clamping surface and extending perpendicular to the clamping direction in both directions about 16 inches.  This allows me to keep level a large piece to be drilled.

Ditto on mounting to plywood.

I used a leftover piece of Oak plywood and added oak trim around the edges. Also add support for pice being drilled.

Mounted to my Dovetail Jig table with large knobs uner to remove if needed.

I drilled four pilot holes in my counter top (kitchen countertop) that I have as my work bench surface then screwed the jig down to the bench.I store my jig in its case with all of the accessories and when I want to use it I just use my cordless drill and pop the screws back in and it is very secure attached directly to my bench.The screw holes in the countertop are smooth and do not affect any other projects that I do when not using my Kreg Jig.Works great for me.No matter what way you do it just make sure it's secure.

I have recently moved and do not have a workshop or bench yet. I mounted my Jig to a 3/4" sheet of plywood which in turn sits on 2 sawhorses. Works like a champ. From Sophisticated to primitive. Seems like just about any system works.

I mounted mine to a piece of 3/4" ply about 10"x16". I added a few "legs" to each side of the board for longer boards. Drill a hole in it and hang it on your wall-o-jigs. Add a small box to keep the bit/s and drillbits in.

Hey,

I find carrying it in the case simple, and small parts aren't lost as for mounting. I always have a couple of saw horses available around and any scrap piece of plywood 1/2" or so. I always have a 4'x4' across the horses use a couple of screws out of your kit to fasten. makes a large enough work area and breaks down with little to no effort. Stored in case keeps everything neat and simple. Nothing clumsy to carry or store. Allows you to use clamping plate or other clamps available

Smart man you are and not having it all split up and parts here and there. I have a Miller falls 1/2 drill no reverse so it is old and it has been in a wooden case my day used when he owned it and it has never failed a drill out yet ,The only thing I did was took some 3/8  viynal tube and put over the end of the bit toprotect it

I confess, I didn't go through all 100+ posts so I apologize if this has already been presented. I mounted the K-3 jig to a piece of 1x3 and used a miter slot clamp block to tie it to the top of the table saw. Work height is right and got plenty of bench space.

 

 

 

The box has an assortment of screws, keeper of the bit, driver and hex wrench. Also has Collar depth and  recommended screw  charts glued to inside of the lid and coated with urethane. It also has the Kreg jr and micro jig.
