Hi there. I'm Peter, and I live in Dover, NH. When I transitioned from being a renter to a home owner, 6 years ago, I knew nothing about how heating, plumbing, electrical, and so on worked. But owning my 100 year old home got me on the fast track to being a intermediate DIYer. As a kid I built many tree houses and wood go karts, but I never learned real skills with real tools.

Most recently my wife and I decided to push our DIY skills to the limits and are currently remodeling our kitchen ourselves! It's close to complete and has gone very well, but I'm up against a challenge now that has me scared! I plan on making a wall oven cabinet. I've never built anything that would be considered "woodworking" or furniture-like. I'm handy with a saw, and other tools, but cabinet making, oye... I've been putting this project off. I'm hoping the Kreg Jig will help me with this simple box with one bottom drawer, and 2 simple top cabinet doors.

While on my journey to upgrade and maintain our house, I've documented quite a bit of it just for fun and thus created a blog to share my DIY experiences (good and bad) with others: http://www.doverprojects.blogspot.com that then turned into a Facebook community http://www.facebook.com/DoverProjects There's lost of daily comments from regular Joe's just like me in there. I run it just for fun.

Okay, that's me. Hi to everyone else. I'm off in search of tips here to make my wall oven cabinet with the jig! (Photos are from the current project... kitchen remodel in progress!)

Hello, My name is Troy and I live in Southeast Texas. I just joined the Kreg owners community. I have been woodworking for close to 40 years. I recently bought my Kreg jig to build some custom cabinets for a bathroom remodel. I love my new jig. Just wish I had purchased it years ago. I have a small shop that I am in the process of revamping and hope to share photos soon. I hope to be able to learn tips from my fellow woodworkers as well as share things learned over the years.
Hi. My name is Joe Macaluso and I am new to the community. I am from West Milford NJ. I have only gotten into woodworking over the past 5 or 6 years or so but it is something that I have come to love! I got started in it doing some odd jobs for my wife's school. She is an OT (Occuppational Therapist) and works for a private school that handles children with disabilities. She would ask me to make things for her to use with the kids and it started from there. Over the years I have been building my tools and machines, which I must say is an expensive job!!! =) I know that I could learn alot more about woodworking from others in the community and look forward to advice and tips. My most recent project I'm working on are therapy benches for the school. And I made it using my Kreg Pocket hole jig set. I am going to post a pic of one of them. The top is padded and I added a shelf underneath at the advice of my wife. I am looking forward to meeting you all in the future. I'm beat and heading off to bed! 5am comes fast! LOL!

Hi Peter, welcome to the community. I do not have any specific plans for your cabinet, especially without knowing the measurements of that cabinet. If you look to the right you will see under free plans "Wall Cabinet". This is a video showing the basics of building a wall cabinet. If you follow the basics you should be able to take your measurements and construct and design your own cabinets. Keep in mind that top cabinets are typically 12" deep, base cabinets 24" deep with 3 3/4" toe kick. This is typical not always so. There is a cut list under the video box that give you some idea of the components.

You may also want to start a discussion and maybe one of the members may have more detailed drawings, sorry I work from taking measurements and not from drawings. You may also want to search youtube for Kreg Jig Projects for other ideas

Thanks Robert! The wall cabinet I'm making is a floor to ceiling deal, with a oven in it. So one big box... bottom drawer and 2 top doors. So all the same depth. This thing will sit next to our chimney chase. I'll be very simple in it's detail, as it needs to match the other original (50's?) built-ins on the other side of the kitchen. Face frame fronts. I think I can do it. Mostly I need to work up the guts to do it!! :) Kinda like this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S69827569 but not like that...
Hi all
I have taken early retirement due to ill health so will have time to do all, perhaps not all, the projects I have been meaning to do. I have been a DIY cabinet maker using all the traditional jinting methods, having seen a demonstration of the Kreg joining system I am a convert. I will reading this site to get as many tips as possible.

Regards

Dave Clark
Hello my name is Paul from wa. state and I love wood working and taking on new projects. Now I have two new grand kids and I love to build things for them to use through out there life. I have built them a pick nick table and now I'm on to a toy chest.
Hi, my name is Dan Holzman. I have been woodworking for 30 odd years, including furniture making, cabinets, and rough framing. I do a lot of DIY projects, includling electrical, plumbing, tiling, flooring. I am currently working on a deck, and thought I would attach the rails to the posts using the Kreg system. Seemed like it would be faster and easier than mortise and tenon for a lot of connections, plus it can be taken apart if necessary.
Hello. My name is Chad from middle Tennessee. I purchased the Kreg Jig several months ago after seeing it on a tv ad. I have been woodworking as a hobby for the past couple of years but I never tried any type of joinery until I made this purchase. The Kreg Jig is a simple tool to use and the results are outstanding. I have made several items with it and look forward to downloading plans for future projects.
Hi my name is Gary. My son Taylor and I have been just getting started in wood working. just purchased the Kreg Master set (plus) and are looking forward to using it!
Hi, my name is Gordon. I'm probably a beginning woodworker although I've dabbled in it for over 15 years. Lately I've decided to focus more on it and things have certainly changed in terms of tools over these years. I'm presently renovating my shop (mostly getting rid of stuff that always accumulates) and building some benches and storage cabinets etc. Like others who've posted here, pocket hole joinery was something I thought I'd try once I'd developed an adequate skill level but the Kreg Jig has really changed that notion. The first thing I built was the workbench from the on-line plans. It was amazingly easy although I will say that I made just about every mistake you possibly could while assembling, good thing I didn't use glue. I will undoubtedly make many more mistakes as time goes by but for me that's just part of learning.
