Hello, my name is Ed Hunt and I have been retired for 8 years. Since retirement I have developed a passion for woodworking but I'm just a novice. I strive for excellent quality and will get the best tools available (within price reason) to get the best results. I have time and patience to do it right. I just bought the Kreb master jig and would like to be proficient with it. I also want to learn more about routering. Any references to publications that will help me here will be greatly appreciated. I have a Kreb question: when the drill bit is properly positioned how far should the tip be from the base of the jig? Another way to ask this is how much of the screw should protrude from the piece with the pocket hole? I expect to have many more questions and look forward to chatting with this group.

My name is Mel.

I bought a Kreg Master kit a couple of months ago and love it. It is simple to use and the joint stregnth is impressive. I recently revamped our home office making a 10' long work space, but still required an under-desk unit to house the computer tower and APC battery backup, thus releasing desk top space. Kreg made this simple to put together.
I have since made a wheeled tray to enable my table saw to be easily moved and will be making a similar unit to provide mobility to a filing cabinet.

I have been doing DIY projects for longer than I care to remember, and since retirement I have become more interested in woodworking/cabinet carpentry projects as apposed to remodeling, deck building etc.

Kreg removes the tediousness of complicated jointwork and speeds up a project considerably.

I'm considering purchasing the the Kreg portable router table and would appreciate any comments concerning this tool.

My name is Hap Smith Jr. I am from southern California (LaPuente) originally. I joined the Marine Corps in the early 1970's and have lived all over the world, or many parts of it since then. After I retired from the Corps we moved from Virgina (Quantico) and we planted ourselves in Missouri where my wife is from. I have built things all my life, mostly guns, as in gunsmithing for the Marine Corps. I have also built things over the years that were made out of wood. I used the KREG system while I worked in a custom cabinet shop WW Wood Products Dudley Missouri, Google,look em up online. I bought my first KREG tool a few months ago, still in the box, due to health issues. I joined this site to pick up tips and get ideas for future projects. From what I have seen so far, it was a good choice to join here and a good choice to buy a KREG tool. I'm pondering my first KREG project, no more bisquits for me...

Hello, my name is Daniel and I am from Aurora, CO. I have worked with wood for most of life. My dad, grandfather, and uncle were very handy and we spent a lot of time in the garage. When I was 17 my grandfather and I built an 800 square foot shed in his front yard. Now that I am married and moved away I have collected my own tools and enjoy fixing things around the house and making little things for the wife. I built a plant stand out of Poplar and also made a Scrabble board with multi-colored wood inlays for the "bonus" slots in the board. I used a medly of Rosewood, Purple heart, yellow heart and walnut to contrast the board material of Birch plywood. This came out great and I will post pictures soon. I am currently in the middle of trying my skills at building a vanuty for the spare bathroom. I would like to build new kitchen cabinets, but thought it would be better to try on a vanity first before taking on that large of a project. This is the true reason I bought the Kreg jig was to help with the fastening of the face frame to cabinet. I love looking through the projects people have posted and have gotten many ideas already. This is going to be a great place get ideas and I look forward to learning more from everyone on the site.

Welcome to all! Thanks for having me as a part of this community. I really enjoy looking at all the photos, from crafts to small projects to shop ideas, from entertainment to bathroom to kitchens, it is really fulfilling to see how many people are doing things with wood and wood products, no matter which stage of the project they are in. I've learned a lot since I discovered the Kreg Jig Owners' Community. I like to say "No project too small or too large." So get your photos up. I'd like to hear from experienced woodworkers who have used various types of joinery and how using Kreg Jigs has helped up your wood skills and game; they sure have upped mine!

Look at all the Blue Man Groupies here. I can't tell which is which. Anyway, Welcome to all the new blue faces. It is said, that if a man has a desire to do woodworking he will find a place to do it. I saw photos of a young man in Ontario, Canada building a 16' pirogue in his apartment flat. He had to build it diagonally and when finished, he shove it through his window and strapped it to two skateboards and pushed it to his friends house to put the finish on. This community is like family to me. I share what knowledge I have and I gain it as well. Some even share their plans. I encourage you to check out the community and get to know the members. There is a lot of skill and knowledge here at your finger tips.
