Just finished this today. Been working on it a little here and there over the last couple of months. Going to be a Christmas present for my father-in-law. The frame is 2x2 stock joined with pocket hole screws. I sanded with 100 grit then 150 grit. I used a pre-stain conditioner and a "weathered wood" colored stain. I then applied a few coats of spray on clear coat. Thanks to Dan for the inspiration : https://kregjig.ning.com/photo/album/show?id=2900167%3AAlbum%3A464650

Thanks! I actually had to cut the piano hinge to fit.
Great looking cooler, has a great build. Like the weathered look of it, suited for outdoors.
