Kreg jig for thinner stock

I thought that I saw a K.Jig for thinner wood, where smaller screws should be used. I don't see it described here in the product area, just the mini jig that seems to be for tight places but not specifically for thin material.

Is that something that is discontinued? Or just my imagination?

Look at the micro jig, Uses pan head screws which have a smaller head but still only goes down to 1/2" stock.

Presently, they're for 1/2'' min thick wood stock.

The micro jig comes in a kit with a smaller bit, stop collar, allen wrench, and mine has a black block that looks a lot like th one that came with my K-3 kit.  I used it on 3/8 plywood once with some success. I just moved the stop collar down a little.  I keep the micro parts in a plastic bag so they don't get mixed up.

I tried this jig for smaller stock. you can drill holes 25 % smaller.  However, it has its flaws... The angle on the jig is incorrect and causes the screws to come out on the edge on the piece of wood you are attaching to.  Kreg needs to revise this product and change the the jig to a more acute angle, as I have seen other users posting on its flaws.  Lee

I agree with Lisa on this. I bought the micro jig to build some drawers using 1/2 inch stock and I'm spending more time fixing the blow out then I would have setting up my dovetail jig.

I agree with everyone on this, except maybe the angle part being a panacea. I bought one about two years ago to make some drawers from 1/2" plywood. I immediately ran into the issue and, since it seemed the only viable solution was to place the pocket trenches on the outside of the drawer, I switched to alternate joinery.

Changing the angle would work but, as with most things, there would be tradeoffs. For one thing, it would no longer work as well on thicker stock, the screw would be exiting to close to the pocket edge unless the jig was moved significantly further up the stock. Secondly, with many stocks, a longer drill bit would be required or, at least, a drill bit extension as the drill body would be contacting the workpiece much sooner.

As I see it, right now a reasonable solution would be to shim the bottom away from the stock a small amount, say about 1/32", on 1/2" stock only. Perhaps Kreg could come up with a shim attachment for just that purpose.

yes john a shim may work however it still would not change the angle.

I thought I said that. Changing the angle may be less than a good idea. It would require much longer screws on thicker stock. It would also create interference with the drill body motor without utilizing longer bits or bit extensions.   Or, change the angle and make it a "one-trick-pony" :)

John,  Nobody has said anything, but, stay away from that Lucia Edward.  She has all kind of red flags coming out.  I don't intend to tell you how to run your life, I have just got the life experiences that make me aware of people who take advantage others for their own gain.
