Kreg Owners' Community

So I have spent the last 3 days cleaning my garage which has been used for storage for almost 3 years after moving into our home.  The garage is a 3 car garage for a 1 car family which is fantastic.

I finally setup my shop with all of my tools ( miter saw, router table, table saw, ect.. ) and received a Kreg jig for my birthday from my wonderful wife.

I started to build a small table for my backyard with some cedar 2 X 4 and found the device super easy to use.

If only I could measure and get my cuts accurate with the saw the table top would look perfect!

Any advice for a new Kreg owner ?

If you can take a pic so we can see what you are trying to do.

John,

The best way to insure that your cuts are accurate is to use a stop block whenever you can.  You can Google and get an idea of what I'm talking about with them.  You will definately see a big improvement with something that's so easy and congratulations on the Kreg Jig!!

"measure twice, cut once", as the old saying goes. Also, are youi cutting on the line or off the line? or do you have a proble cutting at nintey degrees? Try some sample cuts until you get the hang of it.

here you are john it anit pretty and some plywood goes a long way and like jastin said use stop block when you can.

Thanks David.  I do like the Kreg Multi Tool that came in really handy.

I also just noticed that my mounts for the miter saw were not screwed in very well and it had alot of give to it.

I will tighten that up and build a nice stop block.  Any suggestions for something that is easy to remove.

I am forced to share the 3 car garage with my wife so I have the single car port for for parties I need to "hide" my junk as she calls it.

Stop block systems are great. If you do a lot of cutting, a Kreg Precision Trak and Stop system can be a real life saver in the long run!

John, the stop block systems are great for repeatability but not for accuracy.

I'm not sure if anyone has addressed your initial question.  Perhaps you could be more specific.

Accuracy comes from good skills and quality tools.  Stop block systems only guarantee that your errors will be repeated.  ;-)

John, wouldn't it be easier just to move the cars out of the garage, rather than all your great "junk."
