I bought a spare bit at Lowes a year ago, just in case
Lee Valley carries them in stock!
http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=46272&cat=1,180,42...
They list them here for $16.50
(Keep the adjusting collar off the old one as a spare or to use on other bits.)
Considering the cost new of Kreg Products, They should be able to cover a replacement under a materials and workmanship part of any warranty they have without going under.
I had a problem with the bit in my Kreg kit at the initial purchase and Kreg replaced the drill bit free of charge.
What Lowes do you shop at??? For 7.00 my lowes are 15.97
Home Depot has it.
