Kreg Owners' Community

I got my monthly E-mail From Highland Woodworking and seen this in it. http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/kreg-toolboxx-complete-system.aspx

I was wanting to find out some more info on this kit, but I could not find any thing on it at http://www.kregtool.com/.

This is amazing, i can't wait to have this toolbox

I'm looking forward to making my own.

Does anybody know where I can get hinges like that? If I have to I can make my own.

Check out the Husky Model # 17187311 available at Home Depot for $29.97.

Oh so busted! It always gets me when companies simply take a cheap product, slap their colors and logo on it and jack the price up 3 fold... not just singling out Kreg here, Festool is probably the real king of 'brand jacking'.

Don't get me all wrong here, the Kreg case is quite nice but unfortunately I don't see it as being much better than the case that they had before..... after all, you are best to mount your Kreg Jig to a base to use it properly, right?

If Kreg really wanted to make a useful and proprietary containment system for their tools then they should have made the tool useful while still in the case; essentially they could have modeled their branded [plastic] case after some of the excellent wooden/metal examples of cases & bases shown by members right here on this very website!

Hey Kreg, way to overlook your greatest asset when designing a new product. Better luck next time.

Mark,

You could buy the Kreg box, remove the hinges and put them on your own home made box.

What hinges?  Just two straight bars, check the video;

I checked the Husky version. It sucks. Lowes has a better one. They are called lift hinges but I can make my own out of wood or aluminium. I'd like to make my own so I don't have to buy one.

Where can I get it in Canada?
If you fill up the top compartments with screws and then take out the jig does the box fall over ?
It shouldn't -- there's a plastic leg on the back that supports the tray when open.

Cunning :)
I will have one of these as soon as Lowes gets one in.  ken
