Kreg Owners' Community

Here's another great project plan for you from Kreg.  This time, follow along as HGTV's Jeff Devlin walks you through the steps to build a beautifully distressed bookcase (distressed not your style? Don't worry, you can customize however you want)

I enjoyed watching this video. I have made a few book cases with the Kreg Jig but I never thought to attach the edging with pocket screws, I always glued and nailed. My next set of shelves will be done with the Kreg screws holding the edging as well. thanks for the great tip.
Yes using the pocket screws to secure the face frame is nice. If the pocket holes are in a visible location I fill my holes with Timbermate wood filler, it sands as smooth as glass and no one knows the holes were ever there when your done.

Jeff did a great job with this project. I like the simplicity as well as the personality. To many times woodworks have personalities that should be left in the basement shop. Great use of the tool with an eye to simple and cost wise. I am sure I will make a couple of these. I'm thinking gifts. (Not the first time I made something I didn't need)

I am new to HVLP sprayers, I would like to purchase a good all around sprayer.  What kind is in the video? Do you like it? Would you recommend it?

I just started a new project and below is the gun I will be purchasing.
Actually Im not into making a bookcase at this time but anytime I can learn more about the Kreg Jig and the  things it can do the better I will become.  This was very helpful and Im sure a bookcase will be made one day and now I know how.  Thanks Doug

Interesting video. Great to see I am not the only one with a small shop.

I think the Kreg is all about making cases, and framing. (And repairs now and then of course), So it should be simple to adapt this to any project you can dream of. The limit of the Kreg is set only  by the limits your own imagination. I wish I'd bought a Kreg years ago. 10/10 for this video.

Why do you show minutes and minutes of a guy rambling on about what he is going to do, and then cut out the parts of him actually doing it? I want to see him /doing/ the work, not just talking about it. This sort of defeats the point of having a video.
Great video with a lot of useful ideas and techniques. This video will help me take my projects to the next level. Thanks for  posting.

I agree...  there should be more up close views of the screws being installed, how it pulls the joint together, etc. and LESS talk about it.

Otherwise, a very nice project.

Great video.  I think I'll be making one of these.  I don't know what all the fuss is about the talking.  The guy seems personable, is easily understood and produces a very nice product.  IMHO.

Of course, there's always someone out there that has to complain.  Maybe  the critics can step up and make a better video? I'm game to watch it!

Always willing to learn.

I watched the section on using the cross-cut sled.

When Jeff was cutting on his left side of he blade, his 'flapping shirt-cuff' came very close to that blade. Not being a kill joy, but if the blade picked up that cuff... One arm gone

It happens in a split-second and there are no second chances Jeff. Roll up your sleeves when using a table-saw, especially one without a guard.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
