SPAM — vb  , spams spamming spammed
1.

unsolicited electronic mail or messages simultaneously sent to a number of e-mail addresses or mobile phones or social media accounts.

As many of you know, we've been experiencing some problems with SPAM (i.e. digital junk-mail) in the community.  Some of you have been receiving unsolicited messages on your profile page and subsequently your email inbox.  I'd like to address a few issues regarding this problem:

  • First of all, we work very hard to prevent SPAM in this community and will continue to do so.  However, we are unable to stop 100% of the events.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  Receiving these type of messages can be frustrating, time consuming, and a bit disheartening.
  • Do not be alarmed if you receive SPAM.  You were simply one of the unlucky few who was randomly selected by the SPAMMER to send a message to.
  • The SPAMMERS do not have access to your personal information such as email address, etc.  The reason you may be receiving emails is simply because the community is automatically notifying you of a message you received from within the community.
  • A bit of background information regarding our efforts to thwart SPAM: when anyone signs up to become a member of the Kreg Jig Owners' Community they have to answer a simple question.  By answering this question correctly, the community software knows you're a real person.  This prevents automatic-type SPAM computers from making profiles automatically and using them to SPAM community members.  Unfortunately, if the SPAMMERS are really persistent and are committed to getting in they can still do so by hiring real people to fill out the form to create a real-person profile.  Up until recently SPAM had been virtually eliminated in the Kreg Jig Owners' Community.  We will continue to work to keep the community as free from SPAM as possible, but we need your help.
  • As our community continues to grow (now over 26,000 members and thriving) we will continue to be a bigger target to SPAMMERS.  This means that members will need to take a more active role in pointing out problems when they surface.
  • If you see any questionable posts/messages (someone inviting you to send them money or to buy something or to visit their website for a 'good time,' etc.) please report it to KregRep by sending a personal message.  To send a personal message, simply visit KregRep's Page, and then click 'send a message'.  Be sure to include the name of the spammer, or perferably, a direct link to the spammer's personal page as there are sometimes multiple users with the same name.
  • After being notified by community members of a suspected SPAMMER, KregRep will delete the user's account so further mailings are halted.

Thank you for your patience with this issue.  We're confident measures we're taking will reduce the likelihood of frustrating SPAM in the future.

Hello KregRep,

Many thanks for your concerns (et al- there at Kreg) through this Forum and your E-Mail.

Lately this sort of nastiness (Spam, Malware, etc.)has grown like a very bad weed on many company sites through their forums and even in their e-commerce stores!

If I may I'd like to suggest that folks here take the time to investigate Malware and Spyware programs available through a simple search using their favorite Search Engine.

Many of these system add-ons act as alerts and/or auto-cleaners/detainers  of this garbage covering a gamut of Web Browsers and E-Mail applications.

Many are free or more than reasonably priced. as regards the later- especially the damage and time wasted these sick games can play with your computer and possibly your Net reputation as well.

i got one those  on my page and sent it in last nite report issue and talk to others on chat about comment i got on my page hope they got it all i copied . ty for the notice
Thank you for letting us know. I did in fact receive spam just yesterday but figured that's exactly what it was considering the content.
I have not had a problem but thank you for your feed back

I received an email from someone impersonating as the Kreg Rep shortly after I joined. I say impersonating because it was in my junk pile. Everything else from Kreg or Kreg Rep goes to my inbox but I thought it was a mistake. Opening it caused my laptop to contract a virus which was so bad I had to get a new computer.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but if email from anyone you think you know ends up in junk use caution before opening as even your own address can be hijacked.

Thanks also but the only way to stop it I would think is stop following and forums that way  the person thayt I got mine from is as KC member they would not be able to have it sent to m email address
I've had several spammed emails sent. Was wondering why I started recieving them. Thanks for the update

I had one of these emails. While you are never going to stop spam a link at the bottom of each post allowing you to "report abuse" or "report as spam" would make dealing with the process a whole lot easier than sending a message about it to KregRep.

Many thanks for keeping us informed.

My thanks are also added to sending out notice about the problem.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
