Kreg Owners' Community

Hey!

What happened to the long thread (80 to 90 posts as I recall) about Kreg's decision to discontinue the front-lever K3 jig and revert to the back-lever K4 style?

Every post I read (except KregRep's) was strongly against this change. Too strongly for management perhaps?

It appears to have been censored out of existence!

What happened to the concept of "discussion"?

Tim,

I can assure you that no one from Kreg deleted the thread, as I am the only one with account-authority to do so.  After reading your post and being unable to find it myself, I looked into this and found that Robert M., the gentleman who had started the thread you're asking about, has deleted his account.  As such, I believe all of his posts, threads, etc. have been deleted along with.  It seems unfortunately that this is a feature of Ning which can not be changed and the data can not be recovered.

I know that that is what happened because there was an other thread that I was following, and I noticed that it disappeared also and when I checked his page, it had also disappeared.  This also happened once before with s guy named Phillip.

Makes sense.

My apologies for the censorship allegation.

But you gotta admit that it gave the appearance that the thread may have been deleted because of the pounding Kreg was taking over the K3 elimination.

Speaking as a K3 owner, I have to agree with the multitude of (now deleted) posts expressing the opinion that Kreg's making a big mistake in eliminating the K3 and offering only the K4.

I have never tried the K4 system but as an owner of the K3 I cannot imagine having to each around the work piece to activate the clamp.  The K3 is a dream to use for this part of the process.  So.... no K3's for me please

I apologize for the removal of the thread. I wasn't aware that by deleting my profile and removing myself from the forum would delete all of my posts.

Didn't get in on the first discussion so........I purchased my K4 Dec 4, 2008 (just looked it up).  That's the only model Menard's had and I was unaware of the K3.  Don't know if it even existed then.

Anyway, not having used the K3, the K4 is fine for me.  Except I haven't built large projects that require reaching behind to secure piece (hey, that's what the better half is for, get him/ her out in that workshop)

I like my Kreg Jig so much I still watch the infomercials on TV when I run across them.

ha ha me also, I never get tired of looking at the videos on the Kreg site also

Anyone interested in a K3 they are available on Ebay.

Well guy’s let move on. This discussion is about wron out. We all had our say about K3 and K4. Kreg gave us the opportunity to voice our opinion. They apparently made their decision which they have every right to. Does anyone have any wood working information to share using the kreg products? I am new at it and sure can use some.

I want to buy a new jig mine about 20 years old silver type.

Looking at k3 and k4 l want k3 but why do stores not carry them lowes or home depot in canada only carry k4 Is there problems with k3?  Do l have to buy on line on a american web site?

There is nothing wrong with the K3 it is the better system. Get one while you can Kreg discontinued them. I am assuming because they want to produce one master system and they can manufacture the k4 cheaper and still charge the same price. They can be found but it is getting harder to do.

I think "thetoolstore.ca" still has some k3 units available and they are Canadian.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
