Kreg Owners' Community

Hello,

I am a newbie to this forum, but a long time user of Kreg Jigs.  Recently, I discovered that I could not drill holes in wood using the Kreg jig.  The bit needs sharpening.  Does anyone have any ideas about how to sharpen this bit?

Thanks,

Cecil

Hi Cecil,

I've resharpened them using ''diamond files'', like those offered by ""E-Z Lap''.

TIP:  Use a magnifier to enlarge the image, while sharpening.

Inspect the drill bit(s), before proceeding with drilling, just to give them a ''look-see'', so the bit has a sharp cutting edge.

Also, inspect them and touch-up the cutting edges, before putting them up,

so they're ready to go when you need them again.

I make this a standard practice, and always have sharp bits at the ready.

TIP #2:  store the bit in a clear plastic tube, so as to prevent inadvertent damage, during storage.

Works for me.
