Often my screws will come through the other side of the wood. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong? I'm using a 1x4 and 1&1/4" screws. I think 1x4 calls for 1&1/2" screws but I reduced the size hoping to eliminate the problem. Still happens, though less often. Any tips?

Great answer, Cheri. CK, Cheri is right: a 1x4 is actually 3/4"-thick, so you need to use 1-1/4" pocket-hole screws. You also need to make sure that you have your drill bit stop collar and your jig set for the same: 3/4", the ACTUAL thickness of your board. Always go by the actual size, not the nominal (stated size).

another thing to consider is they type of material that you are using. if you are using something soft like 3/4" melamine, set the stop on your drill bit for 5/8" instead of 3/4". it will still give you a nice tight fit but not stick out the other side.
CK,
Peruse the info, you'll find this very helpful.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
