Micro Jig Grr-Ripper

Hello Fellow Kreggers;

Is there anyone besides Ron that has the Micro Jig Grr-Ripper and if so, I am interested in hearing your views on it. Thanks, kenny

Hello Kenny, I own the micro jig Grr Ripper and in my opinion they are the best thing going in table saw safety.  I did a review on them back in April of 2011 and purchased the tool shortly afterwards.  Would I say buy one, most definately as it definately takes most of the danger out of the table saw cutting.

Kenny they do make it safe, No sorry that I got mine.  They were scarce when they first came out but finally there is several outlets for them.  How are you and the family?

Jay, I just had an after thought. I viewed the video on the Grr-Ripper and they recomend using 2 units for the longer work pieces.  Do you have a pair of Grr-Rippers and what is the longest workpiece that you have run through using only one? Can a workpiece of, well, let us say 48", be run through easily and safely?

Kenny I have two however hardly use two as I can run 8 ft through without too much trouble.  If I was to run anything longer I would definately use two.  If I was running alot of long 6 to 8 foot in a qunaity I use both.

GRR-Ripper

you can find it in product review april 2011  Basically it is a high grade table saw push system for ripping.  It can also be used on router tables shapers and the like.  If the link does not work google mirco-jig grrriper

I've had one for a couple of years and have mixed feelings about it. First problem is they cannot be used with a blade guard or riving knife because they go completely over the blade. Your saw must be set up for non through cuts. Works pretty well on narrow pieces but I found I prefer cutting thin strips by doing the thickness reference on the left side of the blade instead of off the fence. Sure, takes a little longer but I'm more comfortable doing it that way. I do use the thing some for handling small parts on the router table. Bottom line for me was that it turned out to be a very expensive push block.

I picked one up last year at the Woodworking Show at the State Fairgrounds here and I've been very happy with mine.  It has certainly given me piece-of-mind on the safety issue and allowed me to do some work I wouldn't have tried before, such as ripping some very narrow strips of wood.

I have rarely used it to rip anything longer than three foot or so.  When I do rip longer items, I usually have a helper at the outfeed end helping.  I don't have a full-size table saw, just an old Craftsman benchtop that I've tweaked with my own custom jigs and fence system.
