Kreg Router Table

Does anybody own the Kreg router table, and do you like it?

I do not own one (and no disrespect to Kreg, this is the fault of the on-sellers in Australia and their profit hungry ways) as they are stupidly overpriced here (approx $850 for the floor standing model!). Having said that, I have used one before and I was quite impressed with it, as I am with most other Kreg products. The main qualm I have with it (and again, this may very well be different in the USA vs here) is that for the same price, I can have a professional floor mounted cast iron table setup, micro adjusting split aluminium fence AND a dust extractor!!!

Actually, the coolest part of the Kreg router table is that the fence is akin to a biesemeyer table saw fence in that it locks down parallel to the mitre slot quickly and easily. Definately its best feature imho.

Hey thanks for the info. I really like alot of the Kreg tooling and they work great, i guess wasn't sure of the router table for that price. And like you said the fence is the best part of the unit. Thanks agian.

I just purchased one today! I've had my eye on it for about 3 weeks or so. I've got a fairly decent system already, but I walked into the store, he had the full blown bells and whistles one on display, i played with it for about 2 minutes and feel in love, the fence alone is well worth the $500.00, talk about smooth, easy to use and adjust. what took me 5 minutes + with my old table, talks less than a minute now, it's that easy. Built in typical Kreg fashion (LIKE A TANK!). It was just to hard to resist, every time I walked into the store it just called my name.. "pssst.. yah, you.. you know you want me...pssst.. hey.. you!"

Did I really need it? No, am I glad I purchased it? YOU BET! I figure I'll sell my old one (a year old no less) for $250.00 It's not as painful... or that's the way I explained to the wife.. (now in the process of building a new dog house to live in)

So I've now had this for a 24 hour period and have assembled it, mounted my router (Mastercraft 2 HP) without a problem. The overall assembly was quick and easy to do (I have no spare parts so that must be a good thing!) Documentation was easy to read and in plain English (figure that one out!). The one thing that really impresses is me is how dead on straight the fence is, required no adjustments out of the box, its slides smooth as silk, the only thing I need to remember to do is loosen off the micro adjustor prior to trying to move the thing!
The only complaint I can make about the entire unit is the small sliding ruler used for making adjustments wasn't the best quality. The tape on one end of it failed to stick; it's almost as if the tape portion has separated from the backing so it sticks up on one end. This can be remedied with a bit of glue, but given how impressive the entire unit is for quality I was rather disappointed in this one little thing. Now with that said, it’s a minor flaw and I would still rate this unit a 10 out of 10.
My biggest headache with my old table was managing to align the fence so I could get a straight cut/trim etc.. NO LONGER shall I fight the fence!

Kreg has created a solid piece of hardware here, but then again, don’t they do that for everything they build!

Does anyone have the table top model??  I am looking at it.  Can't swing the full price of $500 one right now.  Is the fence on the table top one as nice as everyone is talking about with the large one?  What type of router should I buy for it, without spending allot.  Will be getting something next weekend.

I have had a Kreg router table and fence for almost three years now and it would take a fight to the finish ( andf I eat my spinach ), to take it away from me. It is kind of a long story about how I came to buy the Kreg system, I will make it as short as possible. I was at a woodworking show and had looked at the Kreg system and watched the rep demo it, but made a deal on a JessEm top, fence and router because the people that had the Jessem set up were willing to allow me to return a very good JessEm lift that I had purchased before. After the deal was made, I played with the JessEm that they had set up, and then went and took a closer look at the Kreg system. Luckily, the people that I made the deal on the JessEm with also sold Kreg, so first thing Monday morning I cancelled  the JessEm and ordered the Kreg. I bought the top and the fence and built my own roll around cabinet to put it on.

Hi Bill - Are you talking about the PRS 2000? $500 is pretty high, shop around, they go for about $200.

For a benchtop, about any quality 2 +/- HP will do fine. You will probably need to drill your own mounting holes anyway. The Sears combo kit going for about $120 is a good choice as the fixed base will allow above table adjustments.

Kreg's small bench top style router table is an excellent heavy-duty product.

Very handy for a woodworker who has a small shop, works in his garage, or

is on the go.

Great investment.

Funny how people work differently. I passed on it mainly because the fence always locked down parallel to the miter slot.
