I have almost completed construction of the Shop Vacuum Cart (I have attached a link to the plans which are available on the Kreg website. Shop%20Vacuum%20Cart%20with%20Built%20In%20Storage.pdf) I am very impressed with how the cart is proceeding. I am convinced it is going to be a big asset to my shop and, at my age (69), an asset to my back.
I do have a question and need input. There is a relief valve on the front of the compressor. I have included a photograph which shows the location of the valve. As you can see, when opened the valve evacuates the high pressure air in the tank downward. Since I live in Corpus Christi, located on the Gulf Coast, the air always has a significant amount of moisture. This means if the compressor were sitting on the cart the relief valve, when opened, would blow high pressure air and water downward onto the plywood bottom of the cart. I am concerned that over time this would lead to degradation of the plywood.
The workaround I have come up with is to use a hole saw to cut an opening below the relief valve. Do you believe this would be an adequate workaround? If not, do you have a better idea?
I think your idea would work, but to keep the plywood away from moisture, how about drilling a 2" hole for the relief valve and installing a 2" PVC ring that would protect the plywood?
And an elbow to push the air back under the cart to keep from blowing floor dust in your face.
On my larger compressor, I attached a line to the drain valve to route the moisture out of the shop. I had to change out the valve (I went to a 90° throw ball valve instead of one that I had to turn a million times to fully open) to affix the line. You can route the line to any exit point you want, even relocate the valve to make it easier to access.
I think your solution to the problem is that you should go for Porter-Cable CMB15 because it's portable and can be carried anywhere also it's very amazing because i have used it personally. i have also read a post where they have tell the solutions to this kind of problems related to the air compressor.
