I need to buy a dado Blade set. Am looking for help in what to buy. Looking in the under $100.00 cost. All suggestions would be helpful. Am looking at the Freud SD208 or the Oshlun SDS-0842 8-Inch 42 Tooth Stack Dado Set. Would be open to all other suggestions.

Hey Michael,  I haven't used either one that you mentioned, but I have used the delta dado blades and they aren't bad, come with shims too and a nice case.  I am currently using a set from Infinity Tools and they are great, but in the $200 price range.

I currently use Freuds SD206 6'' stack dado carbide tipped blades.

< $90

I find a 6'' is adequate for my dado needs, when made on a table saw.

I get more surface SFM (surface feet per minute), cutting speed, over an 8'' size.

Great tool---makes flat bottom grooves and virtually splinter free cuts.

This set will produce grooves from 1/4" to 13/16" in 1/16" increments.

For less than 1/16" increments, I can fine tune it with shop made spacers.

Dado Blade,6" Stack Dado Blade

Hi Michael - First question is whether your saw will take a 8" stack. Check your owners manual. Most direct drive saws specify a maximum of a 6" dado set and many limit that to a 3/4" stack. Various reasons including, but no limited to; power, arbor length, interference factors, etc.

That's the same set I have ken- didn't yours come with some shims? Mine has two 1/16" spacers and several shims ranging from .005 to .020. They weren't marked though so I had to caliper them and note the size on with a sharpie.

John,

I'm sure I got shims, when I bought the blades---

hmmm---

perhaps they're under ''misfiled'', or

they went into the 'ol proverbial ''black hole''.
