Thank you Leslee, I have purchase a book on joinery and it was used as a reference when I was trying to decide what joinery I wanted to attempt for the cabinet doors on this project. I wanted a joint that I had not attempted before yet might be in my skill level. I decided on a lap joint. I built a jig for my table saw and with a few sample tries with some scrap, I was able to manage the joint. I am not sure what my next project will be but I know I want to continue with the learning process. I think the shop is a never ending project. We always find ways to improve and space saving ideas. I would love to have my space heated. Hopefully in time.....
Hi, Rita.
What a beautiful desk you made. I have a really good book for you to help you on future projects that you need in joinery. It is called, "The Complete Joinery Book"; it would help you with future projects to make more and beautiful joinery. It gives you set by set way to make more beautiful and different joinery.
I did like your desk and I thought this book might give you some really nice ideas for your next project. I have been quite busy with my two year project of my shed/shop and it too is coming along nicely. Thanks for sharing your beautiful computer-secretary-desk. It came out really nice and you have come a long way, Rita. I can't wait until I see your next project.
Gotta love it, Rita,
when a plan comes together.
Thanks Ken, I put it to use last night as I had some tasks to work on. Worked like a charm :)
Great accomplishment, Rita.
Thanks for sharing and the great pics.
Thanks for the kind words Jay. I had a idea in my head as to what I wanted and that also led to some of the challenges faced with building this piece. A lot of trial and error, many firsts for me but I loved the process.
Hi Rita, Excellent porject and it did turn out to be an exceptional piece of work. I like the total concept of the build and some of the features such as the addition of the cork board is an excellent idea. See your are rapidly becoming a cabinet- furniture maker and your ability to design and build is rapidly improving. It is nice to see something like this and refreshing to know that some is still thinking of building nice projects of which are meaningful when finished. It does stand out on the pages of the Kreg community as being one of the better projects in some time. Thank you for sharing your work.
Yes, I learned much from this one and I am pleased with the end product. Now I am interested in learning how it holds up over time. Only time will tell how my joints hold over the years or will I witness problems with shrinking and expansion with the seasons. I suspect that I will continue to learn from this one and that is fine with me.
Hi Rita,
When doing a project, especially first time, it may take a few adjustments.
We learn as we go.
What's important is that YOU are satisfied with the end result.
Hi Ken, Finally managed it huh? That pull out had many do overs!

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
