I will also join the triton group. I had previously used the hitachi mv12 which was a 3 14 hp and had it mounted in a router table using it heavily for several years. When it quit I replaced it with the triton 3 1/4 hp and it is also mounted under a router table. It has been performing well and one of the things I liked over the hitachi is the size of the router plus it has it own through the table router adjustments for heights. What I have noticed as well in the triton is the ability to cut the hardest of woods with out slowing down or heating up as much at the hitachi did. Also of importance in the triton is the motor is shielded against dust and wood chips much better than the hitachi. I normally had to remove the hitachi from the router table and turn it upside down and blow out the wood chips and dust at least once a month.
I do have bosch and porter cable routers in the shop but use them as dedicated routers for hand work only. I have no complaints about their use for this application. I am very happy with the triton router performance in the router table.
What are some of the advantages of a Triton vs a Porter-Cable?
Got 2 tritons the 2hp and the 3 1/4 hp in my table love em.
I purchased the 3 1/4 hp triton plunge router, installed it in my shop built router table, i love it, also , i didn't have to purchase a router lift, it comes with that built in to the router. awesome.... strongly recommend this router !!
Thanks Chris
I've used several brands in personal use, testing, and in photo shoots - DeWalt, Hitachi, Craftsman, Skil, Bosch - but my personal preference is Bosch. I have both a Bosch plunge/fixed combo and a trim router. I also keep an old Crafstman around - it's about 30 years old. The best beginner intro pricepoint for a decent machine for a lot of folks is a Skil. Skil is owned by Bosch.
Question...sounds like you're familiar with a number of different brands, which one would you recommend?

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
