I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…

Several months ago, I purchased the Kreg K4MS so that I could build the Lego Table as outlined on the companion "buildsomething" web site which exclusively uses pocket hole construction. I have considerable experience with conventional…

Hi Andrea
Yes it was a very amusing fast trip on the way to the airport, can't believe you got there in time!
I get the travel bug too, we are tending to spend all out holidays visiting family in Sydney now we live so far away. However, (as this will be our 10 yr wedding anniversary) Penny and I are going to Vietnam with friends in June, and Penny's Mum and Dad will come up here to look after the kids - woohoo!!! We will also try and do a bit more travelling up here in the dry season.
I have dived /snorkelled the GBR before, but not since I have lived here. It is about 50 nautical miles off the coast, bit far out for my little boat. When the kids are a bit older we will try and get out there. No tours go from here because it is too far.
The house is an old "queenslander" style, that has been added onto over the years, also raised up and closed in underneath. It is all wood, apart from the cncrete slab and the steel roof. It is great, but lots of work. I am currently replacing handrails on exterior stairs and painting new doors. I did not build it, we bought it when we moved up here (after much argument and angst) I did not want a wooden house (too much upkeep) but Penny did. There is not much benefit other than it does not retain heat like a brick/block home does. It is strong though, survived Cyclone Yasi with no problems. The garden was a mess though
We like the idea of being environmentally friendly, we grow some vegies/herbs in the garden, have planted some fruit trees this year. Thinking about solar panels on the roof, but it is very expensive. It is hard to prioritise what is best to spend money on. We want to do lots of things, the list is constantly changing!
Got to go w, I'm at work
All the best
Peter
Aw, beautiful kids! It's great to hear from you.
I had forgotten about the fast trip on the highway. Now I remember. Hee hee!
Yes, life is much different for me as well. I am married (before you! in 1997) and I have 2 great kids. I'm a photographer and videographer specializing in children and family portraits. http://www.andreamckenziephotography.com/ I get the travel bug and hope to make it back to Australia one day with my family. One of the highlights of my life was snorkeling the great barrier reef. It was so beautiful. How is that doing? I have heard that they are stopping the tours because the reef is becoming damaged.
A wooden house? You mean the whole thing is wooden? Is there a benefit to that? You mean it has no brick or shingles or concrete? And did you make it? I have become quite the environmentalist. I won't get started on that - not enough time : )
Tamela and I have great memories of Australia- thanks for your help in creating them.
Hello Andrea, long time no speak!
Yes I am the same Peter
I do remember a couple of large nights out with you and Tamela and Anthony Brown, showing you Sydney, the hungi, and a very fast trip along the highway to get you to the airport on time cause we slept in! Very amusing!
I am no longer a Police Diver, I left about eight years ago to work in a hospital running the Hyperbaric Chamber. I worked in Sydney for a few years, and then in late 2007 I got a job offer to operate the chamber in Townsville, Far North Queensland. Long way from Sydney (2500kms) but great lifestyle.
I got married in 2001 and have three kids now, so life is a bit different.....
and a kreg jig is a woodworking tool (you see how life changes, I have a wooden house, different priorities!)
I am not on Facebook (my wife is) thanks for thinking of me
hope you are well and life is good
Regards
