I share a large shop with a friend at his house, but, for the last couple years I have hardly been there to work on anything.

I have moved a lot of the duplicate tools into my carport and have been working there.

Does anyone else work in the carport?

How do you keep things organized?

I have everything on wheels including the workbench.

Any pics would be appreciated.

Thanks for your input!

Steven,

I dont even have a carport, I work in the driveway and backyard, have a look at my projects and in the background you will see the work environment.

As with you all my tools are on wheels however the workbench (if you could call it that) stays outside all the time.

Its not the best situation but I enjoy it and thats it for me.

Lots of rolling organizer stacks out there depending on your budget. I use Festool systainers but store them indoors. Milwaukee makes some waterproof versions in the mid price range.

I do.  Have an insulated shed at end of driveway/carport.  I have allocated space between vehicles and shed for work space.  All major tools are self wheeled or on wheeled carts and stored in shed.  Other hand and powered hand tools also stored in shed.  Nothing ever left o/s except waste basket and wheeled, with brakes, work table.  When gone for extended time, all goes in shed.  Also cleanup is simplified.

Theft could be a problem.  A shed for storage would be advisable.

Theft isn't really a concern where I live.  Honestly.

I have had tools in the carport for 9 years and nothing ever stolen.

It kinda helps living next door to the Sheriff's Mother.  ;)

Got room for one more in the neighborhood? Three guys did ag robbery on me in my shop Wednesday night. I ran them off. They didn't get anything but hurt feelings.

Glad they didn't get anything.

The house across the street is for sale only it doesn't even have a carport.

:(

I came up with a solution to lockable tool storage at least.

My employer is letting me have 3 fire resistant heavy duty horizontal file cabinets.   I am going to build inserts to organize and store tools in them and put a locking bar system on them as well.

Should conquer a major organization task.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
