I want to make a heftier hand rail with my Kreg HD by making pocket holes in a 2x4 laterally then attaching a fir hand rail to the top edge of the 2x4 with glue and 21/2" screws. The problem is that the HD makes holes that cut into the edge of the bottom of the 2x4. I could just use my K4 but would like the sturdier size of the HD. Any ideas?

If you are using Glue use the K-4 Jig for this one and the smaller screws. The place where the HD screws would work best would be the actual mounting of the rail to the wall. Dan
Bill,
When using pocket holes laterally on a 2x4, you would need to have one on both the top and bottom of your piece so that it would not twist on you. With this being said, your pocket hole on top would be showing. To hide this better, I would recommend you put your two pocket holes on the side of your 2x4. These can be plugged if you wish by making your own plugs out of a 1/2" dowel. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Thanks, Dan. I used the K-4 and it's fine with glue between the actual handrail on top and the 2x4 on its side below the handrail.

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
