I've ordered the Micro Jig, and while waiting for it to arrive, I have a question related to it. As a beginner woodworker who learns by myself (no courses or prior woodworking training), and due to lack of equipment, I am buying tools on an as-needed basis. I am mostly working on small projects with 3/8"- 5/8"-thick pallets. Using the Kreg Jig K5 at its lowest setting (1/2"), especially with the 3/8", I am getting way off center-exit of the screw hole. At best, sometimes I can use only 3/4" screws, which doesn't help much at all...especially if I need to join two pieces length-wise. The screws basically end up going through the other side of the wood without adding much strength. Now my question is: Will the Micro Jig will take care of this problem (which I hope), or do I need a different tool?

PJ, Basically the micro jig is made for the thin material and the sizes you are quoting are in the middle of what it was built for.  It will work much better that the standard jig.  I own one and when I need to pocket screw thin materials it does a excellent job on 1/2" and 3/8 materials.

Great. Thank you very much for the answer.

PJ, the Kreg Micro Jig is great for smaller projects and thinner stock. It works with 1/2" stock and narrow stock, down to 1"-wide. A 25% smaller micro pocket hole works great in virtually every application where you'd use standard pocket holes. Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
