As far as cutting countertops, i was a plumber and cut alot to install sinks, I always put masking tape on the lines before cutting to prevent chipping !! Nothing to it !! Don't forget pipes for plumbing, water & electric in the floor and drain tile inside with sump or outside as french drain !! Good Luck !! If you need anything let me know !!

So much information!  I did see a couple of videos that helped me complete a kitchen remodel.  I had stalled at cutting a formica countertop.  I am still gathering information on the woodshop, since our weather hasn't allowed us to dig footings and get started on the actual putting the metal building up.   Thanks for your input!

My name is Jerry, aka Old Guy in some circles. I'm a beginner in woodworking having decided to finally get into it after 2 years of retirement.

I live in central Wisconsin and work in my unheated garage. Since its warmed up to -10F this morning I'm not doing anything except research!

My first "real" project will be to build bedside tables for my grand kids. Nothing fancy, 3/4-inch plywood, face frame, no drawers. And it will be painted. This is why I purchased a Kreg Jig (K4).

Last year's project made of 2x4's I had laying around. Based on plans from "Work Working for Mere Mortals".

Hello, My name is Tammy and live in Wisconsin. I started to dabble in woodwork because I didnt want to pay for something that would soon fall apart. I have 2 boys and 2 girls. My boys can ruin anything I swear. I started with the Kreg Jr. and love it. I am ready to upgrade now though. I have made twin pedestal beds for my boys, 2 tables and have made 2 California style closets. I love the simplicity of using my Kreg. Cant wait to get my new one!

Welcome, Tammy.  I know what you mean with boys being rough on....well, everything!  I have 3 grandsons who are 3,4, and 7.  It is so discouraging to have expensive toys that only last a few plays before breaking.  We are farmers and the boys love to play with toy tractors and implements.  Do you know of a way to repair metal to metal?  I fear it's hopeless, I've tried different glues, they hold until they really start to play with them again, then the mend can't take the pressure.  Too bad they don't make a Kreg jig for that, haha.

Hello - Daniel from Tennessee. I have always appreciated woodworking and DIY projects, but only recently completed my first legitimate piece on my own. I built a bookcase toy box combo for my soon to be born son's nursery. Turned out much better than I had imagined it would. The Kreg Jig has made my entry into woodworking so much fun!

I apologize for taking so long to get back to you.  I too am a pastor.  I’ve been a youth and children’s pastor since 1996.  All that time at one church! In addition to being a Children’s Pastor, I work for the US Department of Justice.  I’m in my 25^th year of government service.  In June of 2012 my wife and I took over KidzFirst ministry that my ex-wife (real long story for another place and time) and I started in 2002.  Anyway the ministry had really suffered the past few years with young couples serving as children’s pastors for 6 -8 months and then moving on.  Since we have taken over KidzFirst we have expanded from only ministering to children to ministering to the whole family.  We have about 20 young families in our church that have starting attending in the last few years.  The majority of our church congregation is of the 50+ (I’m real close to being one of them) generation and so it is great to see the young families, and they are growing. We had three new babies in the month of December and another one due in August!  I don’t tell you all of this to talk about me but to share how the Lord is using my wife and I for his Glory. 

As for the woodworking, I find it very relaxing and a way to be productive at the same time.  You mentioned picture frames in your comments. While I was in college I had my own picture frame/woodworking business.  I primarily made oak picture frames for molding that I made with an 18” Woodmaster planer/molder.  I probably ran 10,000 lineal feet of oak lumber thru my Woodmaster.  I also made baseboard and other trim. I also did matting and glass cutting for the frames.  I was also contracted by a local frame shop to do all of their framing for the prints that they sold. Thanks to student loans I was able to buy some real nice equipment back then.  Of course I sold it all after I decided to put woodworking on hold to raise my daughter.  Which by the way is Perfect!  LOL!  As for my 16 year old son he is a fine young man but he is 16.  God Bless and thanks for letting me share this with you.

I just make some picture frames with the kreg system...Turned out great...I've used kreg for many projects (cabinets and furniture)...I thought for picture frames...well they came out great! My name is Rick and I live in S. Louisiana.  I am a transplant from Missouri 6 years ago and love the south.  Other than a few projects over the years created by necessity, my experience level has been confined mostly to picture frames to support my hobby collecting antique maps.  I purchased the Kreg Master System because I had the opportunity to set up a small hobby shop.  Space is limited in this 14x16 ft building and it seemed a good place to start with many applications possible.
