Depends on what kind of project you are planning to build.

Hi Robert,  If you are just getting started the first thing you need is a method to cut lumber in a square and accurate way to produce flat 90 degree angles.  This can be done using a hand saw and a simple miter box.

You will need a 3.8 electric drill  either  a corded one or a battery drill that will have enough power to turn a 3/8 " drill bit.   This is the step drill bit from the kreg jig set.  You will need a simple tape measure and a small square to check  your material  to see if it is square.  Then you will need a beginners basic kreg jig pocket hole set.   Begin with 3/4" lumber like pine that is easy to cut and drill and some  1 & 1/4" kreg screws.

This will get you started to cutting and fitting pocket holes.

You will also need a couple hours to get you addicted.

Robert, you can also check out your local woodworking shop. Many of them have small areas where you can try things out. I live near the Woodsmith Store. They have a small area with Kreg products. Your local store may have something so that you can check it out. You can also get the small kit and see if you like it. Then go from there. I hope this helps.

Hope this helps! Thank you for your interest in Kreg products!
