Guy, I think you are using screws that are too long. If you use the one inch rather than the one and a quarter inch, I think you will be happier. Also, do you have the collar on your drill bit at the correct setting, this could be your problem as well. Just a couple of thoughts from a fairly novice woodworker. Mgoo

Hello, my name is Guy and I live in Tucson Arizona. I have been doing woodworking for years and I just purchased a Kreg kit. I am using 3/4 plywood ( "23/32") and 1 1/4 coarse screws. The problem is that the points are going through the surface of the piece. I have tried to lower the setting on the drill but it still goes through. I am tightening until I see a bit of the glue squeeze out. What am I doing wrong?
Guy, I agree with Marsha, double check to make sure you have the settings on both your drill bit AND the jig set to the proper depths and go from there. I alwqys use the 11/4 inch with no issues. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply... I set the collar so that the body of the drill is at the 3/4 mark not the tip. I tried to setting the collar so that the tip was at the 3/4 mark, but that did not work at all. The jig is set at 3/4 too. I switched to 1 inch screws and started using glue to avoid the break through. I don't know why I cant use the 1 1/4 inch screws successfully...

I used three coats of Minwax sand and sealer. Keep in mind that oak is porous wood. So, what I did was to stain the wood first and pure the sealer on sparingly and using a Bondo putty applicator, I squeegeed into the pores. after that I sprayed two more coats and let them dry for a couple days and come back with three coats of polyurethane. I used semi gloss. That was my preference for this piece. When doing a large job like this, it helps to stain and apply the sealer to the wood before cutting it into pieces and on the final coats spray the finish on.

Antoine, the ent center looks really nice. My TV already hangs on the wall, so I am going to build two side units to flank it, a base underneath, and a top case to run between the two side units.

What did you use for the finish? I am probably going to want to stain for a darker color. I have never stained/finished before, so I am a little nervous about that step. Hoping I can get some good tips on here though.
Hi. My name is Dave. Have did a lot of woodworking over the years. Cabinetry and furniture and more. The four best tools I own are the table saw, the mitre saw, biscuit joiner and the Kreg Jig. I've made some very strong wood projects with those four tools. New to this community at Kreg. Currently an unemployed computer tech, working as a Handyman. Hey, this is Luke in Hermitage, TN.
I've been doing some home woodworking for the past 5 years or so.
I picked up a Kreg jig recently to help with a couple future projects.
So far I've only tested it out, but I'm rather pleased with the design and usefulness of this little tool!
Greetings, I'm from South Carolina.

I just bought my Kreg about 3 weeks ago and have used it very little. I put together 2x4 face frame and use it across my saw horses for support and to find the integrity that the pocket hole joinery has. I plan to use the pocket hole joinery for the rough openings for a pre-hung doors instead of toe nailing the up rights to the upper and lower sole plates. And hope to use the jig for other applications.
Hi Ya'll,
My name is Barbara and I'm from Charleston, SC. Have finished the first project using the Kreg Jig.
This is a table I just finished. It is flat and square. I used a miter saw to cut the small pieces and the Kreg Jig to join all the parts. I have always wanted to make a table that didn't wabble. WOW! can't wait to start another project.

Hi My name is Tony from Maine. I have been a cabinet maker for numerous years. I enjoy fly fishing and I have built many pieces of furniture. Mainly for clients you cannot find a certain piece of furniture that fit in an unusual spot. Plus my five kids and seven grandchildren keep me busy. Enjoy the Kreg tool tremendously . It is one of the easiest joint making tools develop. It is quick and almost fool proof.

Tony
No. since it is my first successful table, did not try anything fancy.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
