Need help with building storm window frames

I can build the basic two-pane frame from simple 1x2 pine and fasten the pieces together with pocket hole joints.  What I need is the correct way to cut out the slots on the inside edges of the frames to mount and secure the glass panes.  What size slot should that be and what size/type router bit should I use?  I have a table router that I could use to do production prep of the frame pieces, I just can't figure how to set that slot cutting part up.  Has anybody run across a set of free plans that show how to do this?  Thanks in advance for your ideas.

I take it that you have not assembled the frames yet. James said measure the thickness and there is a metal push type fastener that you lay on your glass and push it into the frame to keep it in place ,however the cut needs to be deeper than thickness of glass because you want some window putty on bottom of rabbit cut and then caulk it or cut the slot deeper and nail a spline around it to give it a more finished look. You use a straight bit on router or you can cut them on table saw .If frames are already assembled then you need to use router.

You can find those in the hardware, they are called glazier's points. There is a couple different stylese based on your needs.

Thank you Jame, Robert, Jens, and Roger for the replies and suggestions. Since I had five total windows of the same size to make the frames for - and two per window (one each for screen and one each for glass) - I elected to use the table saw with dado blade, it was mostly a lot of production work. I did make the slots deep enough to hold glazing and glass, plus the glazier points suggested. I'll post pics as soon as I can get them done. Thanks again, team!
