At about double the price range this discussion has been talking about, I'm not surprised.

Nice saw, I have not used mine much since purchasing a Festool plunge cut saw.  The cut quality of this is far superior to any radial arm or table saw I have ever used.
I just ordered a Ridgid 4512 pro. Table saw> I liked the way is was made and the reviews
I took the plunge and bought the Ridged 4510 yesterday..
I'm sure you will love it. If you have any questions just shout out.

I've been following this thread closely and I will very likely end up buying a 4510 prior to my next project.  In researching table saws, though, one thing's been bugging me.  "What's RPMs got to do with it?"  (Apologies to Tina Turner..)  Specifically, comparing the two Ridgid offerings (4510/4512), the "Professional" one (4512) with cast iron top has a smaller/slower motor (13A / 3450 RPM) than the more portable 4510 (15A / 4400 RPM).  My gut tells me they want them to be priced similarly, so the (presumably) more expensive cast iron top gets a smaller motor while the cheaper aluminum top leaves more $$ for a larger motor at the same price point.  But if the smaller motor is good enough for the Pro model, why not put it in the portable model too and increase your profit margin?

Thoughts?

(Oh, and has anyone tried a 20% HF coupon at the HD's in MA/NH?  $400 would be a sweet price.. :)

Hi Dan - Amps is not strictly a measure of power. The amp rating is basically what it will take before smoke starts dumping out of it.... That is simplifying it a whole lot.

To answer your question though, the 4512 is equiped with the more robust inductive motor as opposed to the brush or universal motor of the 4510. Many inductive motors can be wired to take either 110 or 220 although the Ridgid website did not indicate that the 4512 accomodated this feature. The 4512 will also take a 13/16" (I think) dado stack which also indicates a heavier motor as the 4510 will only take a 3/4" stack. The 4510 is also limited to a 6" dado set and I'm not sure if the 4512 will take the 8" or not, I suspect it probably will. As far as price point goes, universal motors tend to be relatively cheap. While I like my 4510 very much, I think the 4512 is much more saw if you have the logistics to deal with a relatively fixed machine.

I saw on a U-Tube vid. that the R4512 can be wired for 220 volts. Hope the info was accurate.

Home Depot is the basic seller of Ridgid tools. But who makes the "Ridgid r4510" that seems to be favored by a number of woodworkers ? I own a ridgid 14" band saw with excellent results, but I was always curious who actually manufactured them ?

Price of the Ridgid r4510 on the Home Depot website is $100.00 cheaper than Amazon. Both have free shipping . The Home Depot price was listed at $499.00. I found this unusual !

If you believe the logo on the website, it's Emerson Electric although the sticker on my saw says made in China. I think Emerson owns the Ridgid name and it, in turn is owned by a conglomerate that also owns Ryobi and, I think, Milwaukee... Ya get dizzy tryin to follow this stuff.

I have a Bosch 4100, the dado inserts, table extension and the Kreg Mitre fence for it as well. Its a 5 for me.

Bosch 4100DG-09 10" Worksite Table Saw with Stand

Also have a 10" Craftsmen Radial Arm saw. This one is a 4 only because of the work to set up.

I have a 10" Delta contractor's saw = not the most precise saw in the world, but it fits in my basement shop and with care does a good job.
