Birthday present for my Grandson

Nice.  Are the buttons/plugs decorative or actually covering countersunk screws?  (Maybe it's the picture angle, but it looks to me like you'd have screws going through each other..)

The buttons are actually covering screws. The holes are  deep enough not to interfeer with each other. The table top is attached with pocket holes the seats are attached through a corner brace. I'm 200 lbs and the chairs held me easily. My daugher-in-law told me Cole eats every meal at his new table. Made me feel like a king.
