Ridgid R4512 Table Saw

Does anyone out there happen to own this model (R4512) table saw?  I got a great deal on one (new) from "Big Orange" and would like to discuss a few things about it.

I had no trouble at all with my lift assy.  I looked closely at the photos in the book and then set the parts on a table to best represent the photo.  I put them together and everything was just fine.  I opted to purchase a ZERO clearance insert for mine.  I'm sure I've mentioned the brand elsewhere in this thread.

Before messing with the trunnions etc. I would suggest you put on a "better blade" than comes in the box.  Mine appeared to heel slightly too until I replaced the blade.  It seems my blade was actually the problem.  I verified this using a digital meter on the arbor (with blade removed)  It measured .000.  With the original blade on it measured .007.  I replaced the blade with a Freud 80 tooth and the blade now measures .001.  That is surely a close enough tolerance to work with.  Good luck.

I had to make a very small adjustment to my trunion.  It was out by .002 and now <.001.  I started to suggest to Ridgid that they number the lift parts and reference them on their instructions but sounds like the new saw has better illustrations.   I buy a lot of Ridgid tools at their distribution center.  They have public sales about 4 times a year.  They make pretty good tools in my opinion.

Thanks for the advise.  I will do this for sure.  Anything from having to get on my hands and knees lol.  It is a bitch to get old.

Hey Steve.  Left you a comment.  One World Technologies or TTI is located near Greenville, SC.  They own Ridgid along with Ryobi and Milwaukee. The are somehow involved in the purchase of Delta also.  The have a sale open to the public about 4 times per year.  They have both new and refurbished items for sale.  I picked up a new Ridgid compact jigsaw and an orbital sander on my last trip.  Most everything in my shop has come from there.  I can send you there last listing if you like.

Well, unfortunately the blade was NOT the problem on my new Ridgid 4512.  Tried to adjust the trunnions, but no luck moving them (would not even budge with a clamp).  The handbook just mentions 4 bolts to be loosened, but no luck.  Am I missing something?  Rudy

Hi Steve. I own a Ridgid R4510. Is that close enough?

Nothing that I'm aware of.  The 4 trunion bolts are supposed to be all there are.  I have seen that some folks "hit" it with a piece of wood, but I would be very careful with that.  Fortunately I didn't have to go through that stuff.

For curiosity, is that the model with the ALL cast iron table (main table PLUS extensions)?  I am considering changing my metal extensions for Cast Iron, but I must do more research.  Ridgid "doesn't recommend altering the factory equipment".  That sounds kinda political, doesn't it?

I tried everything I could from tapping it to clamping pressure, but nothing budged.  I also changed the original blade to a Freud 80 tooth fine finishing blade, but that made no difference either.  Re-checked the bolts, and I can hand loosen or tighten them.  So, the trunnion SHOULD be movable.

Not sure if you are asking me, but just in case.  The model I have does not have cast extensions.  Was planning to replace one of them with a Bench Dog router table, as I have a small shop in my basement where the Ridgid is set up.  In fact, I actually cut down the fence a bit, as I did not need to rip anything wide there.  I have another TS in a 12x12 shed outside where I cut the bigger sheets.  With the shed doors on both ends open, I have lots of room there to handle the bigger stuff.

If it isn't moveable, I can only suggest you contact Ridgid / Home Depot tech support.  I don't know what to tell you beyond that.

Came to the same conclusion, as I don't want to break anything.  Thanks for all the help just the same :)
