Howdy, my name  is Scott Roop and I am a fourth generation carpenter from Raleigh N.C. I had my own business for 35 years and did commercial trim, hospitals, high rises, malls and office buildings to name a few. I have one of the original kreg jigs and have used it on numerous jobs. I now make walking canes, jewelry boxes and just fun stuff. Don't use the jig to much any more but it is still setting ready for the next time it's needed. Have made my own version of the jig over the years for like attaching handrails to the post or handrails together and they have worked great. Well, going to make some sawdust so Hello
My name is Kelly, I live in North Georgia.   I am a self taught woodworker and have been designing and building furniture for over 20 years.  I merged my love for drafting into a love for wood working.  Most of my projects, until last year, were made with mortise and tenon joints.  I appreciate the old carpentry skills, but having "been there, done that", I was thrilled with how the Kreg system simplified joinery.  Even beats my biscuit joiner I had started using for edge gluing boards.

Hello from the UK.

I am Andy, I was fed up with joints moving or falling apart!

I came across the Kreg system after a desperate search via the internet for "How To", most of the work for my kit at the moment is repairing joints from the past.

I will get some new projects under way shortly. Yes I will be grateful for any help or advice you can give.

I have bought a Kregs kit, I have just about repaired all the dodgy joints in the house, shed and most of our neighbourhood! I am going to have a go at making a fitted wardrobe for a bedroom, this will be very interesting as my woodworking skills aren't that good and she that must be obeyed knows roughly what she wants.

I am going to have a go at using bamboo interlocking floor boards to make it a bit more fun.

The Kreg unit will allow me to fit the boards together into panels before I start to cut to size.

I will be keeping an eye on the screws when sawing by the way!

Hi, my name is Luis and I am totally new to Carpentry, or anything that deals with wood.  So, where do I start?  Should I take a class, buy a book, all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

I am a 70 year old still working man, I an a Engineering Supervisor at one of our casinos here in vegas. I have been into woodworking for 10 years now. I try to make furniture in hard wood, when I can find it in the 16th and 17th century style. My wife calls it making sawdust.

I am always open to friends at ggpoppie3@yahoo.com

Luis, I started the same way.  I bought a few books on carpentry to learn about tools and techniques.  My first "trash bin" was more of a trash bin, than it was a work of art.  But I learned and now build end and side tables and gun boxes as a side business in my retirement.  So do not be discouraged at your new beginnings.   I built my first few tables with a skill saw, drill and scroll saw, so you do not have to go broke right off.  That will come later when your hooked.  One advantage you have is the availability of Kreg joinery.  It will even make it easier to learn.  Wish I had it when I started.  The plans and tips on this site and video's are all you need as far as building some fine stuff.  Other books on carpentry may help you learn about tools, hardware, techniques and wood.

Hi everyone.  I'm a beginner and am having some fun with woodworking.  I'm in my early 60s and should have started doing this sort of thing about 40 some odd years ago.  I could have been one of the (probably) few women pros by now...lol.  I'm going to be building an open backed bookcase for my living room.  I want the middle and bottom shelves to be moveable.  I think I've got things figured out, but if I don't y'all will be hearing from me.  From what little I've seen here, there are some wonderful projects being done.  I hope to add my meager little table to the lot.   By the way, my friends call me kat and it's time to teach this old dog some new tricks!!!

Hi,

I'm Charlie, from Wethersfield CT.  I enjoy working with red oak for furniture and craft projects.  Too many times I found myself in a situation where i needed to join my pieces and gluing and clamping and waiting were just not in my program!  I purchased the basic Kreg Pocket Hole kit several years ago and was amazed at how easily and securely chair and table legs came together!  You can quickly and confidently move from joint to joint and in just a few seconds have a perfect fit!  I recently purchased the Kreg Jig K4 Master System and am anxious to put it to work!  I look forward to learning what this forum is about as well as learning what other users are doing!
