I have a new hitachi router but i have a question. I have a 3/8's round over bit that i cant get high enough into the base for it to work correctly. It hits the plastic base and all i get when i try to use it on 1 inch stock is something that would work for moulding if i cut it out at table saw, but i cant get a nice round over on the top of stock. What am i doing wrong? or does someone know of a router base with a larger hole that would let me move bit higher?

Hi Steve - what model Hitachi do you have? I have the M12VC, 2 1/4hp job. Can you post a picture? A 3/8 roundover should only be about 1 1/4 in diameter so if the base isn't centered, you could be hitting the removable bushing adapter. Problem I have with that is my adapter is metal. Photo would definately help here.
I don't have that router Steve but with mine, there are two bases that come with it.  1 has a larger opening for bits with a larger head.  The base is changed depending on the size of the bit.
I have the same model. Now are you talking about the round metal piece in the center of the plastic base? I took that off and now I can raise the bit and did a test piece and got just what I wanted, a nice smooth round over. So if that was what you where saying, Please tell me what that piece is for? The instructions that came with this tool were sorely lacking
HI Steve, that's an adapter plate so you can use the Porter Cable style (1-3/16") guide bushings. I find guide bushings are very useful and I keep that item on the plunge base.

So its ok not to use that?
Hi Steve - Yes, that is only needed to use guide bushings. Did you get the kit with both fixed and plunge bases or just the fixed base?

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
