I have done a little research and it seems like the Long Ranger Remote will work with the Harbor Freight Dust Collectors?  I don't know if anyone has tried this or not, I ordered mine last night so if no one has this, I guess I will give a review in a few days.

Hello Justin; Dust collection is an issue that I have not fully adressed yet and I will be watching this one closely. Where can I find info on the remote you mention? So far i just use a 15 gallon shop vac that i plug into a switching device. The switch can be activated from anywhere in the shop by a remote with a single push button. I have a smaller vac on my router table that is activated by a switch that can with my Freud router.
The remote is called a Long Ranger, I believe it was around $50.  I have had the Dust Collector for over a year and have just now started running my pipe.  Below is how I started:

Justin, I use a remote I bought over the holidays at home depot. It's rated at 15 amps, so far the only problems I have had are I dropped the remote and knocked the battery loose and the other one is I sucked up the remote while using the dc to clean off my workbench

Ray, I didn't know that Home Depot had anything like that..  I ordered my remote already, so we shall see if it works.  I hope I don't break it!! haha
Any one ever though of making their own switch.  I have one I made over 15 years ago that works my dust collector system turning on and off each time flip the switch.  It is made using a current sensor which is a  device called a "torrent switch" and a relay from a 240 volt furnace.  I enclosed it in a metal electrical box and flush mounted it in the wall.  No hand held remotes to drop and or loose.  It is protected by the electrical panel breakers and very safe.  No problems since I built it.  I got the idea from an artical I read somewhere and built it.   Depending on how you wire it you can control 240 and 120 volt tools,  My dust system is a 240 volt jet. and the main item I use it on is the router table as I build numerous amount of doors.
Has your new tablesaw come yet Justin.

Hey Justin here's what I was talking about, It works from all over my basement, Notice the pc of walnut on the controler

I've never paid any attention to that at Home Depot and never even thought to look.  I like the wood idea as a keychain, maybe I will use a cinderblock
