Need help making my first project a 3 drawer base unit for my daughters kitchen?

Hi, l guess my question may sound foolish or even lame but am curious?

The bags of silver looking screws that came with the k3 are they special kreg screws?

I know i need 4 to secure k3 to a bench or pc plywood, but what are the other bags of silver screws for?

Got my k3 jig delivered about 3 weeks ago have not used it yet, looking on here for plans to make a base drawer cabinet l need to make to put in my daughters kitchen sink she rents front half of our duplex.

 

I bought a 60 inch wide base sink unit, didn't have jig then, but drawers have to be build to put on bought drawer fronts to match sink unit.

The drawer fronts package am buying to match 60 inch unit, there are 3 drawer fronts all 15 inches wide 2 of them 12 inches deep top drawer front is 6 inches deep.

 

Where i am stuck is how wide do l make drawer box to allow faceframe then put on drawer fronts?

I only have 16 inches wide to make cabinet for drawers, can anyone give me advice.

And since both sides of drawer cabinet won't be seen what type of plywood should l use?

 

Going to build drawer cabinet watching dvd bought of cabinets made with kreg jig just need help with above.

Also hoping to make a 48 inch wide bathroom vanity with k3 jig, anyone have step by step plans for it if not will try one on dvd just make it 48 inches wide.

Oh ya, does the pc of k3 that allows repeat cuts just sit on table beside k3 butted against it?

Hello James,  if you can send me a photo of the cabinet in question along with the measurments I will be happy to diagram you a plan.  Basically in building a drawer cabinet you need to build the drawer one inch smaller than the opening for  the drawer width and then add another 1/8 inch so the slides will operate smoothly.  If you are using the "euro glide" (simple slides with the small on the front and one on the back) leave the drawer top height at least 1 1/4 smaller than the height opening so the roller will go over the cabinet mounted guide.  In you measurements you indicated that your purchased drawer fronts are 15" in width.  since the normal overlay of a drawer front is 1/2" then the max width of the drawer width opening can only be 14 inches.    If this is the case then the drawer you build can only be 12 and 7/8 wide.  (you will be adding 1" to the width with the slide and then another 1/8 for slide clearence  leaving you 1/2" inch overlay each side for the drawer.  If you  have a top drawer front that is 6" by  15" then the face frame opening for that drawer can be 12 7/8" wide by 5" high.  You can fudge the drawer front overlay a bit in each direction.  This is figured on a cabinet using the standard faceframe cabinet.I hope I have not confused you, if so send me a photo and measurement and I will make you a sketch..  Have a great day

Thanks J, did you mean a photo of the 60 inch wide cabinet l bought or area where drawer unit will go haven't built base box for drawers yet thanks for your offer of help and thanks for info here Jay.

James, questions.  where is this cabinet going in respect to the wall and other cabinets.  Does it adjoin the sink cabinet?  Does the sink cabinet or other cabinets have a face frame or are they European (frameless).  With the space of only 16 inches and you having 15 inch wide drawer fronts the only way I see that you can use them is to build a frameless cabinet using 3/4 inch thick ply and build the drawers 12 7/8" wide then build the cabinet 15 1/2 inches wide.  Building  the drawers 12 7/8 inches wide will overlay the drawer fronts 3/8 " on each side.  Any other methods will not work with the exhisting fronts.  If you wish send me a photo of the cabinet that the drawer cabinet joins to as well as the space where it is going.  Please give me a measurment of the face frames width if the other cabinet has a face frame.  Should the drawer cabinet be attaching to another cabinet there may be a way to use the other cabinets side as one side of the drawer cabinet.    see attached drawing.
