Hiya Dave,
I am not sure what space you have in your shop opr what your intentions are for using the table but I have seen some nice home made table saw extentions that the router comes up from the bottom and then can double as additional feed support for the saw when the router isn't being used (and vice versa). If you are seeking an independent router/shaper stand make sure you have plenty of width and length for the size of the pieces and the infeed and outfeed as you run them. I am blessed to have a friend with a dedicated shaper with self feed rollers but as I build my shop up am planning on building a self standing router/shaper table.
Good luck and hope to see your photos of your finished product.

I created my own using an old desktop made of laminate. It is the perfect size for me, I have an additional handheld router for smaller projects.
I assume you've seen this one?

Derek No i have'nt seen them and i like the top per say, but want a Cabnit type bottom for storage, can those tops be removed. Or if i could just buy the top somewhere. Maybe a little bigger surface area.
FYI - the sides can be enclosed with plywood. There are holes pre-drilled in the router table legs for this exact purpose.

you can buy all the pieces. Maybe you should look at the larger router table top and build your own box under it.

dave, make your own, thats what you got the jig for.
i got a table package from rockler.com, then built a mini cabinet with my kreg. it got me up and running pretty quick and doesn't take up much room.

check out mine: i did put a door on it. it's not super pretty but it gets the job done. i'm a newbie to woodworking so i didn't have many requirements or fancy add ons.

Whether you make your own, or buy (I have Freud, Kreg has an excellent table), buy the best router you can afford. A 3 1/4hp that takes 1/4 and 1/2 inch bits gives you the power (rpms) for clean, burn free (following guidelines for bit width/speed).

Norm Abrams Deluxe Router Station is the one that I built for myself. Lots of storage and very well laid out. Only problem is that the dust collection inside of the cabinet does not work well. It may be that I don't have enough power in my vacuum. www.newyankee.com
I recommend the Kreg benchtop one. I purchased this one after a lot of research and don't have any complaints. It's sturdy and can be moved around quickly if needed for small / quick jobs. If you get this one, I recommend you send your plate into Kreg so they can drill the holes for your router.
